Rising Stars: Meet Anie Delgado

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anie Delgado.

Hi Anie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am an independent artist originally from Miami, FL. When I was 18, I moved from a small town in Florida to New York City to study the performing arts. There I attended AMDA and studied dance, singing, acting, and performing. At AMDA, I started taking a music composition elective as I played guitar and was always interested in songwriting and fell even more in love with it. When I graduated college, I worked as an actor for a bit of time, but my heart was always in songwriting. In 2019, I released my debut single Galaxy which was produced by Nick Lee and PJ Bianco. Following that, I released a stream of several other singles. My song “Dancing While the World is on Fire” was featured in Billboard. My debut EP is coming out November 11th.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Being an indie artist is NEVER a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been finding the right team to work with and figuring out what the best things to focus on are. Also, as an indie artist, being self-funded and figuring out where to focus my budget was a challenge at the beginning. Now a few years into my career, I feel so much more secure in my choices on where I’m spending my time, money, and energy since I’ve learned so much.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
When I started my career as an independent artist, I really wanted my music to be for good. Although I write my fair share of breakup songs, I think it’s really special that my most successful song is about an issue I care so much about: climate change.

My song “Dancing While the World is on Fire” was featured in Billboard and helped raise funds and awareness for climate change, specifically at the time getting people to read The Green New Deal and practice living sustainably in their own homes.

I am really proud of this EP that is coming out in November because it is the most personal body of work I’ve created. I’m proud of myself for being that vulnerable.

How do you think about happiness?
Spending time (and especially feeding) my family and friends make me the happiest. I love making music and that brings me a lot of joy too but my favorite place to be is home making something delicious for my loved ones.
