Rising Stars: Meet Anaeis Gevorkian of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anaeis Gevorkian

Hi Anaeis, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Anaeis Gevorkian, and my story began with a graduation gift from my dad. When I graduated from 8th grade, he gave me my first digital camera. That moment sparked an instant passion for photography—something just clicked. From then on, I was hooked. I started capturing everything I could, from everyday moments to travels with my family.

I went on to major in psychology at UCLA with the idea of going to law school afterward. But right before I was about to start law school, I made a bold decision: I quit and chose to follow my passion for photography full-time. It was a big leap, but I felt like photography was where I was truly meant to be.

What I’ve loved most about photography is how it allows me to freeze a moment in time, something that’s always fascinated me. I’ve always been a curious person, eager to explore the world and experience new cultures. Photography has given me the opportunity to combine both—traveling to over 12 countries and capturing the essence of each place I visit.

Starting my own media company was a natural next step, and it’s been an amazing journey so far. There are still countless places I want to go, stories I want to tell, and moments I want to capture. Photography has opened up a world of possibilities for me, and I know this is just the beginning.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road definitely hasn’t been smooth, but the challenges along the way have shaped me into who I am today. One of the biggest obstacles I faced initially was dealing with people’s reactions to me switching gears from law to photography. A lot of people didn’t understand why I’d walk away from such a “safe” and structured path. That was tough at first, especially because I wasn’t even sure if I was making the right decision myself.

Then came the self-doubt—I remember thinking, “Who’s going to hire me? There are so many talented photographers out there.” I didn’t know where to start, and I felt like I had to prove myself. But over time, I began to find my style and focus more on building a solid portfolio. Slowly, things started to fall into place.

Eventually, the hard work paid off. I landed ambassadorships with incredible brands like Nomatic, PolarPro, Moment, Kuhl, Loulex and Anker. It was such a surreal feeling to have these companies not just notice my work, but actually want to collaborate with me. I also had the honor of having my work published in the LA Times and collaborating with Adorama on a post they loved and having Photoshop post one of my photos on their page. All of this was a validation of the leap I took.

Looking back, those initial struggles—while painful—really pushed me to keep going, to refine my craft, and to trust in the process. And even though I’ve come a long way, I know it’s only the beginning. There’s still so much more ahead!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
What sets me apart in the photography world is my approach to editing and my love for a wide range of photography styles. I’ve developed a unique editing style that I feel really brings out the mood and emotion of the images I capture. It’s not just about taking a picture for me—it’s about telling a story, capturing a moment, and making it last in a way that feels timeless.

What’s also different about my work is that I don’t limit myself to one type of photography. I’ve always believed in experimenting and exploring all areas of the craft. Whether it’s landscapes, brand photography, weddings, portraits, hotel photography, or even cars, I get excited about every type of shoot. I’ve found joy in mastering all these different niches, and it’s made me a versatile photographer. Each of these areas offers something unique, and I love how each shoot challenges me in different ways.

As for what I’m most proud of—it’s hard to choose just one thing, but I’d say I’m really proud of how my work has allowed me to travel the world and experience new cultures. The fact that I’ve been able to make a career out of something I’m so passionate about feels incredibly fulfilling.

If I had to highlight what truly sets me apart, it’s my passion for the diversity of photography and the fact that I put so much of myself into each photo. I’m not just about taking pictures—I’m about creating images that resonate, whether it’s a quiet moment on a landscape or an energetic shot for a brand. Every photo is an opportunity to create something special.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I’d love to share this: Never give up on your dreams. Life is way too short not to chase what genuinely excites you. If you wake up every day dreading your job, that’s a sign that something isn’t right. The key is to pursue something that makes you jump out of bed in the morning, something that fuels your passion.

It’s not always going to be smooth sailing. In fact, things might not work out initially—but that’s part of the journey. The struggles, the setbacks, the doubts—they’re all stepping stones to something bigger. Keep pushing, keep working toward it. The risks you take along the way can lead to some of the greatest rewards. And when you do get there, the sense of triumph and fulfillment is so worth it.

Take the leap, trust the process, and remember: pave your own path and create your journey— the reward will come. Don’t be afraid to take those risks and follow what truly lights you up.
