Rising Stars: Meet Aleesha Motta of Simi Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aleesha Motta

Hi Aleesha, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my music journey in 2020 during the COVID quarantine. At that time, I desperately needed a hobby, so I convinced my dad to buy me an acoustic guitar for $75. I played it every day until I felt I wasn’t improving. Fast forward about a year, and there I was, still playing the guitar. I initially learned through an app but soon switched to an actual guitar teacher. As I improved, I focused mainly on solos, which were really exciting to me. A few months later, I joined my first band as a guitarist, and that experience sparked an interest in drums. I began learning the drums from a fantastic music teacher who played every instrument I could think of and more. He taught me music theory, and I even picked up a few things on the piano.
That band eventually broke up, and about a year later, I joined another band as a guitarist and, for the first time, as the lead singer. However, I didn’t stay with this band long because I started focusing on my own music. I attended a writers’ camp that summer, which motivated me to start releasing my own music.
I’m a huge fan of Finneas and draw a lot of inspiration from him in my production. I currently produce all of my own music, which is released under the artist name Aleesha. I have a lot of fun with my production and songwriting. My music primarily reflects difficult situations and uncomfortable emotions in my life. Writing, producing, and singing are my forms of therapy.
My long-term goal is to build a fanbase of people who can relate to my music and connect with each other. I hope to create a supportive community where people uplift one another and feel a sense of belonging. I want people to know they are never alone and to truly feel that connection.
I’ve met many incredible people along the way and have recently started performing at small venues. Performing is a whole other level of musical expression for me. Experiencing people’s reactions to my songs in real time is incredibly rewarding and pure. I hope to continue helping people feel understood, and I’m grateful for the gift of music.
Lastly, I want to say how grateful I am for the people I’ve met on this journey. Every single word of encouragement you’ve given me stays with me forever. I love you all and appreciate you more than words can express.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Truly, the struggles have mostly been internal. I’ve had to overcome many challenges in my life, which often made things feel very difficult. I’ve also struggled with confidence in my work, especially regarding my voice. It took me a while to feel comfortable with my singing. Other than that, I now focus on having fun with my music above all else.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a singer/songwriter and music producer, specializing primarily in alternative-acoustic music. I’m known for writing songs that connect with people on a deep level, focusing on emotional themes. I’m most proud of the growth and unique sound I’ve developed in my production, which feels distinct and unlike anything I’ve heard before. When people ask me, “What kind of music do you make?” I often find it hard to describe because it feels so unique. What sets me apart is my commitment to honesty and authenticity. I don’t hide or sugarcoat anything; I strive to be genuinely open about my life.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
At first, it can be very intimidating, especially in a place like LA. Even now, I sometimes feel overwhelmed because I meet so many amazing, talented artists who seem way ahead of me. I believe that in this industry, you just have to push through your fears. The more you do something, the less intimidating it becomes. You never know who you might encounter, so attend events, strike up conversations, make connections, and enjoy yourself!
