Rising Stars: Meet Adrien Myles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrien Myles.

Hi Adrien, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Growing up, I was always the shy kid. The gift of music, however; flows through my family lineage. As a soft-spoken adolescent, I always looked up to my older sister for her strength; as well as her rolodex of various spectacular talents. Growing up, my siblings were my best friends. We would always put on little performances at family gatherings but for my oldest sister, it was serious business! This admiration that I had for her talent and determination is what made such an impression on the man that I am today. Those well-rehearsed living room productions fundamentally became the foundation of my personality, career, and related accolades. As my passion for the arts grew at home, I started to get involved with the incredible extra-curricular music programs that my school had to offer. I attended a phenomenal public high school in the suburbs of Chicago, IL where I was fortunate to have such a heavy involvement in the school’s GRAMMY award-winning music department. I was blessed with the opportunity to work with world-class international music directors, I’ve been able to compete and win national championships for both singing and dancing, and from a cappella ensembles to gospel choirs; I learned healthy singing techniques for several styles of music and transformed into a well-trained performer.

Now, I look back at that proud little pubescent choir nerd and I thank him for all of his hard work because today, I am a successful, well-rounded artist, a professional vocalist/songwriter, and a world traveler because of it. I have recently written, recorded, and released my newest studio album, “BARC0DES,” which is rapidly growing in its success. I have done several theatrical tours internationally. And most importantly, I am happy being able to thrive in an industry that requires me to simply do what I love.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road is never smooth. As long as you expect bumps along the way, they’re actually really good for you. I’m originally from Chicago and our roads have potholes so the parallel in which that create for my real-life, metaphorical road is absolutely accurate. That being said, every struggle I’ve ever had, I am thankful for. Yes, life has been a headache and things certainly are not perfect now; but every strength that I muster is a reflection of a time when things were harder. Obstacles are just opportunities in an ugly disguise.

One of the biggest struggles I currently face in my career is being absent from many major life events. I find myself on the road a lot so often I miss my family and miss the feeling of being home. I have an incredible support system but even with very tough skin, I am still quite sensitive to my emotions.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I currently work as an R&B singer/songwriter based in Los Angeles, CA. In addition to my independent work, I also work in live theatre as a stage performer. Although both fields of work are very similarly related, they are deceptively very different. Theatrics are part of my upbringing and I thoroughly enjoy working on set with a production team and a cast of other singers and dancers. My ability to stylistically differentiate my work is what sets me apart from others. I know many theatre-trained vocalists who have a hard time crossing over to a mainstream sound and I also know several mainstream artists who would potentially struggle as theatre performers. The essence I bring to both fields is certainly unmatched. I released my newest studio album, “BARC0DES,” while I was on tour as the lead role in a brand new theatrical production called “5Skies.” This show toured throughout Europe for most of 2022. Whether I am onstage or streaming in your headphones, quality, showmanship, and style are my strengths.

How do you think about happiness?
There are a few things that truly make me very happy. When it comes to my career, I am most happy when I am in a recording studio. I enjoy the writing process almost just as much as performing. The biggest difference for me is that I find zen in recording whereas performing is high energy. When I am writing and recording music, time disappears. The process creates such an intense natural high when the lyrical wordsmith in my brain meets the melodic sentiments of my heart. Poetic bliss. Aside from writing, as a performer, the moment I step off stage – I can’t help but to smile. The joy I get from satisfying an audience is unreal joy.

In my personal life, I am blessed to have happiness. I have an incredible partner and two amazing little dogs. When I’m not on the road, my joy is being home with my loved ones.

Let’s not forget the beach. Love a beach. But wherever I am, as long as the sun is shining, I’m a happy guy.
