Today we’d like to introduce you to Zeiynab Kane.
Hi Zeiynab, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always been a naturally curious problem solver. But it was a personal loss that led me to create something much bigger than myself. After losing my cousin to meningitis, the importance of family hit me deeply. I realised how fragile life was — and how precious real connection truly is.
I came across stories online of parents growing their families through surrogacy or long-distance pregnancies. Many of them shared the same heartbreak — a deep sense of disconnection. It wasn’t just emotional, it was physical. They couldn’t feel the baby grow. They couldn’t feel included. That stuck with me.
I didn’t want future parents to miss the moments that make pregnancy magical. So, I invented Adori — the world’s first device that shares real-time baby movements with anyone, anywhere. Whether it’s a partner overseas, a non-carrying parent,LGBTQ+ or someone unable to be physically present — Adori makes sure they’re still emotionally and physically connected.
Before becoming a mum myself, I spent years developing this — designing, prototyping, and self-funding the majority alone. I wanted to create something meaningful. Something that used technology to bring families closer, not further apart.
FirstTuch isn’t just a company. It’s a movement to improve the quality of life for growing families. I’ve poured everything I have into this — not because it’s easy, but because I believe everyone deserves to feel part of the journey, from the very first tuch.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Has it been a smooth road? Not at all — but every obstacle sharpened the founder I am today.
I began building FirstTuch over three years ago — before I became a mum — driven by pure passion, not circumstance. I had no technical background, no co-founder, and no blueprint to follow. Just an idea that wouldn’t let go.
Living with ADHD and OCD meant I felt things deeply and obsessively pursued getting it right. It’s been both a superpower and a challenge. I had to teach myself everything — from patents to product development — while navigating uncertainty, isolation, and imposter syndrome.
Public speaking used to fill me with anxiety. Now I pitch to rooms full of investors and strangers with nothing but belief in my voice.
Becoming a mum during this journey didn’t start the mission — it deepened it. It made the why even more personal.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about FirstTuch ?
FirstTuch is a femtech innovation company redefining what it means to feel connected during pregnancy. We specialize in emotional technology that strengthens the bond between families, especially in situations where the pregnant person and partner are apart — such as surrogacy, deployment, or long-distance parenting.
Our flagship product, Adori, is the world’s first wearable device that lets a non-carrying partner feel real-time baby kicks from anywhere in the world. We offer hardware and software solutions, blending cutting-edge technology with the deep emotional experiences of pregnancy.
What sets us apart is that we’re not following a trend — we’re catching the wave of the age of experience. Our ecosystem includes an app, AI support, and other innovative products for growing families. We’re proud to be creating a category of our own, built with intention, inclusivity, and impact.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I believe risk is part of the blueprint for anything truly innovative. I quit my job to pursue my invention full time — no backup plan, just belief. I moved my entire family, including my 19-month-old daughter, from London to Los Angeles to chase bigger opportunities and leave a legacy. I’ve pivoted more times than I can count, adjusted business models, rebuilt prototypes, and learned to keep moving even when funding fell through or support was uncertain.
I’ve invested years into building something that didn’t exist before, and that’s risky in every sense — financially, emotionally, and creatively. But I don’t see risk as failure waiting to happen — I see it as proof that what I’m doing matters enough to be worth the gamble.
There were moments I questioned everything — my choices, my timing, whether I was doing the right thing for my family. There were tears, sleepless nights, and times I felt overwhelmed by the weight of it all. But every time I trusted my gut, it led me forward. And it’s that intuition — backed by hard work and heart — that’s gotten me to where I am now.
