Today we’d like to introduce you to William Schopp.
Hi William, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
The Movement Schopp started with a simple idea: people in the South Bay deserve better than cookie-cutter physical therapy.
When I first began practicing, I saw how often patients were stuck in the insurance system – getting temporary relief instead of long-term results. I wanted to build something different.
So I founded The Movement Schopp in Torrance, CA, a performance physical therapy clinic focused on solving problems at the root and helping people take full ownership of their health.
We started small, working with one client at a time, delivering a premium, outcomes-driven experience. Over time, the approach spoke for itself. Word spread quickly through the local fitness and athletic communities. Especially the runners, golfers, CrossFit athletes, and everyday movers who wanted to stay active without pain.
Today, we’ve grown into one of the South Bay’s go-to spots for sports and performance physical therapy, helping people move better, feel stronger, and keep doing what they love for life.
The mission remains the same: help people take ownership of their health, fix problems at the root, and build confidence in their bodies again.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like most great things, it definitely wasn’t a smooth road.
Building The Movement Schopp here in Torrance meant stepping away from the traditional insurance model and creating something completely different. A premium performance physical therapy experience that focuses on results, not quick fixes.
That came with its share of challenges. Early on, people didn’t always understand what “performance physical therapy” meant. We had to educate the community that it’s not just for elite athletes, it’s for anyone who wants to move better, stay active, and avoid the cycle of injury and frustration.
There were long hours, a ton of different risks, and a lot of trial and error to get the business, systems, and team culture right. But each challenge forced us to grow and refine what we do. And with a wife and two young kids, being efficient with my time to build this the right way was super important.
But, those early struggles are what make The Movement Schopp what it is today. A trusted place in the South Bay community for people who take their health and performance seriously. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At The Movement Schopp in Torrance, we specialize in performance physical therapy for everyday athletes. The runners, golfers, CrossFit athletes, surfers, and anyone who refuses to let pain or injury slow them down.
We’re known for providing a premium, outcomes-driven experience that bridges the gap between rehab and performance. Our goal isn’t just to get you out of pain, it’s to help you move better, feel stronger, and perform at your best for life.
Every client works 1-on-1 with a Doctor of Physical Therapy to identify the root cause of their issue, fix it, and build a plan to keep it from coming back. We combine hands-on treatment, strength training, and movement coaching inside an environment that feels more like a performance facility than a traditional physical therapy clinic.
What sets us apart is our culture and commitment to results. We don’t rely on cookie-cutter exercises or insurance limitations. We treat people like athletes and partners in their own success.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the community we’ve built here in the South Bay. Our clients know this isn’t just a place to recover, it’s a place to grow.
Whether you’re coming back from injury or chasing your next PR, The Movement Schopp exists to help you keep doing what you love pain-free, strong, and confident.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
If I could give one piece of advice to anyone just starting out, it would be this: focus on solving real problems and play the long game.
When I started The Movement Schopp, I thought success meant being busy. Over time, I realized the real goal is impact. Helping people get life-changing results and building a business that actually serves them well.
There will be moments of doubt, slow growth, and plenty of mistakes. That’s normal. The key is to stay focused on your mission and keep learning. Success doesn’t come from chasing every opportunity. It comes from staying consistent with the right ones.
I also wish I had known sooner how important it is to build systems, not just work harder. When you create structure, clarity, and purpose, your business grows in a way that feels sustainable for both you and the people you serve.
At the end of the day, if you stay committed to excellence, keep your values intact, and truly care about the people you help, everything else falls into place.
