Meet West Hollywood Boxing & Fitness Trainer: JarrelCudjoe

Today we’d like to introduce you to JarrelCudjoe. Going from having a net worth of $4 to building a thriving business, Jarrel’s story is one of the most inspiring we have come across.  Below, you’ll find edited excerpts of our interview with Jarrel.

Jarrel, please share your story with us.  How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve been a gym addict ever since I can remember, the gym has always been my second home, and probably why personal training has been such an easy transition for me. In 2012 I decided to become a personal trainer, I started at a local gym in my area back in Brooklyn NY. Two years later I decided to make the jump and move to Los Angeles, while out in Los Angeles I worked at Mansion Fitness, a gym located in West Hollywood. Then shortly after I decided to go private and work for myself thus creating “CudjoeFitness” my very own brand and business for private personal training.

Has it been a smooth road?

It has not been a smooth road, starting up your own business is never the easiest thing to do. The biggest struggle along the way was not having enough money to do simple day to day activities like eat. Over time things did become better and I continue to grow as a brand and a business each and every day. Some of the main milestones on the way were being recognized by different magazines and media outlets. I did features in other magazines such as: Muscle & Fitness Shape Magazine Glo Magazine.

What are your plans for the future?

While CudjoeFitness continues to grow, so do I. I do plan on becoming one of the top trainers in all of California, with hard work and dedication anything is possible and never too far-fetched. Turning my business/brand into an app would be a very big step for me, however I do know that there are plenty of steps in between that much of which I have already conquered thus bringing me just a little bit closer to my goal. The one big change that I want to make for CudjoeFitness is to make it accessible nationwide. My team & I are working hard around the clock to make this happen, hopefully in a couple of months to a year from now all my hard work will pay off and my dreams will be made into a reality.

Let’s dig a little deeper into your story.  What was the hardest time you’ve had?

I’m still building as a business and a trainer in my field, my career is far from over & I’m still continuing to learn every day. The hardest time on my journey thus far would have to be the beginning. There was a time when I had $4.82 to my name, it was a very trying time in my life, many of days I went hungry but I continued to push and push & promote myself as a premier trainer. One day everything came together and I got two consistent clients that would be the basis of my training company. I worked my butt off to train them and make sure that they got in the best shape of their lives, from that moment on I realized that this was the thing for me. I enjoyed working for myself, I enjoyed the hard work, the long hours, I even enjoyed the struggle, it was the struggle that brought me back to earth and made me realize that if I wanted to become successful that I would have to stay one step ahead of the game at all times, and for that one moment when I was broke I felt grateful because it made me realize how lucky I really am.
