Today we’d like to introduce you to Warner Takaki and Sara Dee.
Hi Warner and Sara, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
We have been friends for years, meeting when our now college-age children were in Kindergarten. The Pilates Pod was born out of necessity. After the pandemic shuttered the Pilates studio we attended, we longed for a space where we could practice on Pilates equipment- which is expensive, large, and not so easy for the average person to have at home. We also knew it would be a very long time before we would have any interest in the bustle of big gym or large Pilates studio. We were lucky enough to be introduced to Robyn Murgio and Kazia Cumbler of “Mama Needs a Drink” who, in a clever Covid pivot, had started the Pilates Pod. They had done the leg work in setting up a great space and basic business model. However, they already had a thriving business and the Pilates Pod required more time and attention than these two busy moms had. We were brought on as partners, expanded the Pod to include 2 Pilates Reformer machines, started offering outdoor Saturday mat classes and eventually became the sole proprietors of the Pilates Pod.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Our business was brought to life during the pandemic; we saw a need that could be filled, and there was certainly interest and comfort in what we created. We’d love to see more people using and scheduled in the Pod.
As you know, we’re big fans of THE PILATES POD. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
The Pilates Pod is a space in which people who practice Pilates can rent by the hour and work out without the noise, germs, and bustle of a typical gym or Pilates Studio. The Pod is affordable, contactless and belongs solely to the client during the time they rent the Pod. For Pilates instructors, the Pod is an incredible option. Instructors may bring up to two clients and work with them in our cute, and comfortable studio with equipment and props that are carefully maintained. Cleaning supplies, Wifi, and a large monitor to stream media are all included. The Pilates Pod makes Pilates accessible to all and allows instructors complete and total control over their own business while providing an attractive studio for them to call their own. The Pilates Pod – Contactless and Yours!
What makes you happy?
