Today we’d like to introduce you to Vincent Rodriguez.
Hi Vincent, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I got started in Real Estate Investing when I read the book RIch Dad Poor Dad which talks about how working for money never creates wealth and how investments are the only way to create long-term wealth. I started in 2018 by buying a duplex for 265k and now control 14 properties in 3 markets in the USA.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No , not even close. It has been very challenging especially with COVID shutdown and managing the growth of the company. There has been a lot of challenges with cashflow since we bought in high appreciating markets. These days we focus on more cashflow plays.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I work for a medical device company as my W2 and have several patents in that field. That is my day career but as many of us know, you cannot create generational wealth using conventional means. Hence I started my real estate career where I use friends and family capital and started buying real estate in Bakersfield, CA, then moved to Inland Empire, then Orange County, CA. Last 2 years we have been buying outside Nashville, TN for more cashflow to support the business. Outside of my primary residence, the portfolio now manages around 10M which brings in gross revenue of over 750k/ year. Since its a very capital intensive asset class, it almost brings nothing in terms of net cashflow after all expenses and paying investors.
How do you think about luck?
I would say that lucks favors the bold and risk takers of the world 🙂
