Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Victoria . So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there
Well it all started when I was a kid. I loved drawing and was into art. I also enjoyed sounds and observing anything around me. Drawing with a yellow wooden pencil was my go to. That’s kind of how I started. I drew anything I found amusing forever. And learned to get better at drawing simply by doing it everyday all day. It was never about the material or how. I just did it. And now I’m here still doing it and I’ve gotten so much better. Now I’m a painter, and I continue to paint, draw and put my artwork out into multiple forms.
Though I now consider myself a painter I am learning still to this day about art and what art is about. Or at least what painting is about to me. Growing up I thought there were all these rules and such. Sometimes graffiti or even having interests in art making isn’t seen so much as a money making thing. Like other careers and etc. Thinking back to when I was a small kid clueless about life or how to art I just wanted to create. So I drew a lot of spider webs on other school mates’ hands for fun. I picked up my first spray can as a little kid possibly 8 years old or so. Living in a city type area at the time I saw spray paint all over the streets. And loved it 100% even though some might not be into that form of art. I basically stood by the things I have grown up seeing, at least the creative aspects. I had always been creative but it wasn’t until possibly middle school I took the whole art thing seriously. So it all just became a whole love thing and my preferred lifestyle until I die. Most definitely can’t always listen to those telling you to not do art. Art is life still and it just becomes a much broader experience to flow with. Deep down though I’m in my early 20s I am still a kid and I’ll never lose that hopefully.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road was as smooth as it could be for the moments at least for I. Art isn’t smooth at all but it can feel that way when there’s passion and commitment. It continues to take a lot of work high and low, for days and nights. Within all these years arting becomes more fun and wild. It’s also never easy but I learn a lot each time. The struggle can be to keep up with myself in a world so dark but bright. But definitely a majority of my life it has never been so smooth as a human in society and being my own person. Art to me is like fighting against all the terrible dark times.
So when I paint I’m fighting for something and always punching through to get better and be better. Besides that art isn’t cheap. I mean art supplies are pricey as hell. So gotta work real hard to keep my art world going, so it can be a lot. But when you are consistently committed and passionate, there are no what if’s or buts. Still to this day I am currently fighting for my own life, the worlds and others of course. Couldn’t do it without all those things. Overall there are many roads taken in my life while art making and living. Some paths aren’t hard; they’re just too much to handle at times but they’re always fun and challenging too. I also listen to a lot of music so that helps me be better mentally for all the ups and downs that are yet to come. Even then I am super excited for what is and what can be soon. There are so many places to be and paint besides that I personally am always working on new future projects. So I keep myself brainstorming for
awesome art ideas. I’m planning on leaving a good handful of ready canvas paintings. You know an open art gallery for all to come across by.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Painter – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I specialize in making art. Paintings are my main, making artbooks is also so fun since they primarily are my own sketchbooks, and possibly am known for making paintings. I’m most proud for never letting the idea of giving up even slightly come into my heart. And for learning to be me genuinely. I feel that what sets me apart from others is what I am.
But to get into some details one thing i am happy about is an art book I made not too long ago. It was made and produced by I. Mainly about 20 pages front and back were all filled with photos of my paintings and some shirts I had also made. Some paintings in there were never posted or seen
by the public really. So it was fun having kind of a mystery feel to it. It took hours to put it together and a few days to really have it all coming together. Overall after brainstorming and putting my ideas a little more together I had a whole little art book. The entire idea was in me for about a year until I finally made it come to life this year. I sold all 10 copies. So it was a very rare limited project. Will never reproduce, like any other art work or projects I come up with.
Mainly want to say that really fighting through our dark times and mind to make art is the most vital. I will never get tired of stressing how extremely important it is to care about yourself and believe in yourself only. And that truly relates to what we are and what we put out into this world. This art making isn’t only about me but about everything too. For a little while which can feel like forever, it’s hard to see what really sets your individuality apart from others. It just really depends on what I want to put out and what I wanna be seen for. I am just grateful and am genuinely happy to be well and alive enough to keep painting and putting art out in the world.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
The buildings and also the transportation. Driving around can be such a hassle of course so I am glad there is a metro station that connects to a whole lot of other train stations. I definitely take advantage of the transportation because I can basically get to any other city easily and safely. Also there are a bunch of cool cheap vegan spots in the la area or around la. Screw bougie vegan spots though and any bougie vibes. So that is a bonus at times. Besides that my family grew up in la also so that feels nice too. To know close friends and peoples in the area. One other thing too that’s real awesome is how much is always happening in the la area. Such as art and protests especially nowadays I noticed so much more is happening. I mean who hasn’t noticed that a lot has happened this year, good and bad.
Personally what I least like is the idea that people are pushed out of their homes and lives, plus the pollution. No one deserves to be pushed out, ever. No matter what. People need a place to
live in and need to feel safe. We all know gentrification is extreme in la and overall in surrounding areas too. La isn’t fun, it is a place where a grand diversity of different beings live in and peoples lives should be respected. The cost of living is so high, where can people live? So here we are fighting for lives in many forms. If anyone is comfy, get uncomfortable.
