Today we’d like to introduce you to Vera.
Hi Vera, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, my name is Vera. My story consists of many trial and errors, but they have played a role in where I am today. My artistic trajectory has been greatly influenced by different life events.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It would be easy to say that it’s been a smooth road, but that would be a lie. There have been many hardships, but my mom is a prominent reason why we pushed through them all. She has been both my mother and father. My mom persevered through it all and has played a role into shaping me into the person I am today. There are not enough thank yous in the world to show her my gratitude.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I work with multiple mediums. I airbrush, graphite/ ink, and I recently started experimenting with oil painting. I would consider airbrush my specialty; I freehand every piece I do. I still have a ways to go and so much to learn, but it is my favorite medium. I am most proud of finally stepping into larger canvases/ pieces. It has allowed me to challenge my capability.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I would love to see my craft expand beyond my current talents. I would hope to have had a show out of the state or country. I would love to one day have a solo show or even curate a galvanized exhibit. I would hope to learn more about each medium and try new ones along the way.
