Meet Trynh Kraj of Trynh Photography in Laguna Beach, CA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trynh Kraj.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Trynh. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Looking back, I’ve been taking photos since I was 10 years old when it was on rolls of film that my mom had to develop for me. My best friend bought a camera for me when I was 19 years old for our first trip to take travel photos, at the time I thought nothing of it and it was all fun and I would move on to the corporate world after I graduate college with a BS in Business & Biology. I did just that, and moved up the ladder in the pharmaceutical world. After a decade of the hamster wheel, I needed something more to fill my creative soul. I then opened up a website with a few samples of my work that I had shot for family, friends and neighbors. Soon after, many referrals came in and people would find me online for booking. Today I photograph all over California as well as internationally for clients.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, it has never been a smooth road, even after 10 years I still encounter bumpy roads often. I think some of the struggles were learning the ropes of the photography and wedding industry, knowing the right people to work with and trust. I wish someone would’ve told me some of the things that I know now.  Other challenges were balancing my personal life with my business, since the business is my passion it never felt like work so I was working too much without realizing that I’ve been slacking in my personal life (i.e. spending time with love ones, working out, eating healthy, take a vacation etc.).

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Trynh Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
I have a photography company that photographs weddings, lifestyles, newborns, and commercial work.

I am proud that my company has survived after 10 years and growing.

I think what sets each person apart is the person behind the business, everyone is different in their own way. For me, I think I have the ability to connect with many types of people, since living and traveling around the world helps me understand other cultures, language and people no matter what their background is.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t believe in luck, I believe it is a combination of hard work and opportunities and your willingness to take those opportunities and work hard.
