Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Certainly, the pursuit of my dreams presented its unique set of challenges. The hardship was made particularly evident during periods homelessness, where resources were so scarce that I found myself residing in a shop. Oftentimes, representatives turned me away on the basis of seeming either “too gay” or “not gay enough.” Financing it all became a balancing act – often equivalent to robbing Peter to pay Paul – especially living in an expensive city like Los Angeles while simultaneously funding multiple careers. Despite this adversity, I still affirm that it’s been worth every moment.
Indeedly, there have been many dark moments throughout this journey, but they are merely juxtaposed by one particularly transformative encounter with Sydney Poitier at one of my lowest points. Mr. Poitier wasn’t cognizant then, but his words provided me plenitude of life as he commended: “Wow, you have a tremendous light. May I ask what your name is?”. My response: “T’Quan,” prompted an expression surprise and awe from him. His parting line was indeed impactful: ”Please extend my best regards to your mother for she has birthed a star.”
That interaction remains firmly ingrained within me and fuels my resilience daily. To know that someone I greatly admire perceived so much potential in me serves as my beacon amidst tumultuous times and gives validation on each step along this strenuous path.

I’m a singer, actor, and photographer who owns my own marketing consulting firm. My proudest moment was deciding to stop working for people who really didn’t care for me or the demo they were after. I’m blessed to be able to play to the beat of my own drum.
