Meet Tina Schneider of Spin 360

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina Schneider.

Hi Tina, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Your Story
My journey in health, fitness, and wellness has been a lifelong passion rooted in education, real-world experience, and an unwavering commitment to helping others transform their lives from the inside out.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Food and Nutrition (with a focus on Sports and Clinical Nutrition) from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona), graduating in the mid-1980s/early 1990s era. Early in my career, I gained hands-on experience in prestigious settings, including serving as a nutritionist and diet instructor for the Los Angeles Galaxy soccer team, working at Centinela Hospital Medical Center and the Centinela National Athletic Health Institute, collaborating with Hollywood trainers like Dan Isaacson, and even preparing meal plans and providing nutritional counseling for boxer Oscar De La Hoya during his 12-week training camp leading up to his fight against Shane Mosley.
These opportunities deepened my expertise in clinical nutrition, athletic performance, and behavior modification, but I always dreamed of creating a space where people could achieve total body transformation in a supportive, private environment. In January 1998, I took the leap and opened the original Spin 360 Fitness in Glendora, California—becoming the first private boutique spin studio in the San Gabriel Valley. What began as a focused spinning facility quickly evolved as I incorporated personal training, small-group strength sessions, cutting-edge nutrition programs (including certifications like Ideal Protein in 2008), and even faith-based life coaching.
Over the years, we’ve rebranded to Spin 360 Core Fitness (around 2015) and expanded our offerings to emphasize holistic wellness—mind, body, and spirit. Our private studio has become more than a gym; it’s a community where clients push past limits, build friendships, and find encouragement, often ending spin classes with devotionals or moments of gratitude.
One of the most defining chapters came during the COVID-19 pandemic. Like so many small business owners, we faced sudden closures, immense uncertainty, and the real fear of losing everything we’d built over two decades. We pivoted quickly to virtual training to keep our community connected, adapted our programs, and relied on the incredible loyalty of our clients and our faith to get through. It was a season of profound challenge, but it also reinforced our purpose: fitness is about resilience, support, and holistic health, not just physical workouts. Emerging stronger on the other side has been incredibly rewarding and has deepened the bonds in our studio.
Today, after more than 25 years (and approaching 30 in the industry), I continue to lead hands-on as the owner, director, personal trainer, spin instructor, nutrition coach, and life coach. I love working with everyday people in our community—helping them discover their inner strength, achieve their goals, and live healthier, more fulfilling lives. The best part? Seeing the transformations, the friendships formed, and the lasting impact on their well-being.
I’m grateful for every step of this journey—from the early days in elite sports nutrition to building a thriving, faith-centered fitness community right here in Glendora. It’s not just about exercise; it’s about inspiring people to become the best versions of themselves.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it hasn’t been a completely smooth road—far from it. Running a boutique fitness studio for over 25 years has brought incredible highs, but also significant struggles that tested resilience, adaptability, and faith every step of the way.
When I opened the original Spin 360 Fitness in January 1998 as the first private boutique spin studio in the San Gabriel Valley, the biggest initial challenge was education and awareness. Spinning was brand new to most people in Glendora and the surrounding areas—no one really knew what it was! We had lines out the door for the first few years because it felt cutting-edge and state-of-the-art, but building that early momentum required constant outreach, demos, and proving the value of indoor cycling in a market dominated by traditional gyms.
Over the decades, the fitness industry itself evolved rapidly, bringing ongoing challenges like staying ahead of trends (from new equipment to nutrition programs like Ideal Protein in 2008), competing with big-box gyms and emerging digital options, and managing the high operational costs of a private, boutique space—rent, top-tier equipment, dedicated instructors, and creating that intimate community feel without the volume of larger facilities.
The most defining and difficult period came during the COVID-19 pandemic. Like so many small business owners in the boutique fitness world, we faced sudden, indefinite closures starting in March 2020. Revenue dropped to zero overnight, while fixed expenses like rent and utilities didn’t stop. There was real fear that after more than two decades of building this community, we might lose everything. Many boutique studios across the country didn’t survive—some estimates show 19-30% of them closed permanently during 2020-2021 due to the financial strain, capacity limits upon reopening, and the shift to home workouts.
We pivoted aggressively to virtual training to keep our clients connected, which helped maintain some sense of community and normalcy. It wasn’t easy—adapting classes to Zoom, dealing with tech glitches, and motivating people from their living rooms required creativity and extra effort. But leaning on the loyalty of our incredible clients, our team’s dedication, and our faith-based foundation carried us through. That season deepened our purpose: we realized fitness is about more than physical health—it’s about mental resilience, emotional support, and showing up for each other in tough times.
Emerging from the pandemic stronger has been one of the most rewarding parts of the journey. We rebranded and expanded as Spin 360 Core Fitness around 2015 (with further growth post-COVID), adding more small-group strength, nutrition coaching, and life coaching elements. The struggles have taught me humility, gratitude, and the importance of community—our studio isn’t just a gym; it’s a place where people find strength in every sense.
Looking back, every obstacle has built character and refined what we offer. It’s made me more passionate about helping clients discover their inner resilience, because I’ve lived it myself. The road hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been profoundly meaningful, and I’m grateful for every challenge that shaped us into the thriving, supportive community we are today.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Spin 360?
About Spin 360 Core Fitness
At Spin 360 Core Fitness, we’re more than just a fitness studio—we’re a transformative community dedicated to holistic wellness, where mind, body, and spirit come together to help people unlock their full potential. Founded in 1998 in Glendora, California, as the San Gabriel Valley’s first private boutique spin studio, we’ve grown into a cherished local haven for total body transformation. Our intimate, private space (no crowded classes here!) focuses on personalized experiences that go beyond the workout, fostering real connections, lasting results, and a sense of belonging.

What We Do and Specialize In
We specialize in 360-degree wellness programs tailored to everyday people—busy professionals, retirees, athletes, and everyone in between—who want sustainable change without the overwhelm of big-box gyms. Our core offerings include:

Signature Spin Classes: High-energy, music-driven indoor cycling sessions that build cardio endurance, burn fat, and boost mood. We cap classes at 10-12 participants for that personalized feel.
Personal Training & Small-Group Strength Sessions: One-on-one or intimate group work focusing on functional strength, balance, core stability, and injury prevention—perfect for all fitness levels.
Nutrition Coaching: Drawing from my background in sports and clinical nutrition (including Ideal Protein certification since 2008), we create customized meal plans, behavior modification strategies, and ongoing support for weight management, energy optimization, and overall health.
Faith-Based Life Coaching: What truly sets us apart is our integration of spiritual encouragement. Many sessions end with devotionals, gratitude shares, or motivational talks rooted in resilience and purpose—helping clients address the “why” behind their goals.
We’re known for our results-driven, compassionate approach—whether it’s helping someone recover post-surgery, build confidence after a life transition, or simply rediscover joy in movement. Over 25+ years, we’ve celebrated countless transformations: clients dropping 50+ pounds, regaining balance after health scares, or finding community during tough seasons like the pandemic.

What Sets Us Apart
In a sea of generic gyms and apps, Spin 360 Core Fitness stands out as a private, boutique sanctuary—no judgments, no egos, just genuine support. We’re not about quick fixes; we’re about holistic, lifelong change. Our faith-infused environment (without being preachy) creates a safe space for vulnerability and growth, where workouts spark deeper conversations and friendships. Plus, as a women-led studio (with a focus on empowering women, though all are welcome), we prioritize what works for real lives: flexible scheduling, virtual options (honed during COVID), and a “no one left behind” mentality.

What I’m Most Proud Of, Brand-Wise
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of our unwavering community spirit. We’ve weathered industry shifts, economic dips, and the COVID storm together—pivoting to virtual classes in 2020 kept our “family” connected when it mattered most. Seeing clients not just get fit, but form lifelong bonds (some even train across generations now!) is the heart of our brand. Our rebrand to “Core Fitness” in 2015 symbolized this evolution: from spin-focused to core-strength in every sense—physical, emotional, spiritual.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
What role has luck (good luck or bad luck) played in your life and business?
Luck has definitely played a role in my journey—both the good kind that opens unexpected doors and the challenging kind that forces you to dig deeper—but I’ve always believed it’s something we can influence more than we realize. In my experience, what people often call “luck” is frequently the result of preparation meeting opportunity, hard work, faith, and persistence. That said, there have been moments where timing, circumstances, or sheer serendipity felt undeniably fortunate (or frustratingly unlucky).
On the good luck side, I consider it incredibly fortunate to have been in the right place at the right time when indoor cycling (spinning) was just emerging in the late 1990s. Launching the original Spin 360 Fitness in January 1998 as the first private boutique spin studio in the San Gabriel Valley felt like perfect timing—spinning was new and exciting, and people were hungry for something fresh beyond traditional gyms. There were lines out the door in those early years, which gave us incredible momentum. I also feel blessed to have crossed paths with mentors and opportunities early on, like working with elite athletes (the LA Galaxy, Oscar De La Hoya) and Hollywood trainers—these experiences built my credibility and skills in ways that set a strong foundation. In a broader sense, being born into a time and place with access to education (my BS in Sports and Clinical Nutrition from Cal Poly Pomona) and a supportive community has been a form of good fortune I don’t take for granted.
That said, there have been plenty of bad luck moments too. The COVID-19 pandemic was probably the biggest test of “bad luck” we’ve faced—sudden closures, zero revenue while expenses continued, and the uncertainty of whether a small boutique studio could survive when so many others didn’t. It felt like cruel timing after more than 20 years of building something meaningful. Many boutique fitness businesses closed permanently during that period due to factors beyond anyone’s control, like government restrictions and the shift to home workouts. It was humbling and scary.
But here’s where I see the interplay: even in those tough times, what looked like pure bad luck became a catalyst for growth because of how we responded. We pivoted to virtual classes quickly (which kept our community connected), leaned on faith and client loyalty, and emerged stronger with deeper appreciation for resilience and holistic wellness. The pandemic reinforced that true success isn’t just about avoiding misfortune—it’s about how you adapt when it hits.
Overall, I don’t attribute my 25+ years of running Spin 360 Core Fitness purely to luck. Preparation, dedication, community-building, and God’s grace have been the driving forces. But I do acknowledge that luck (or divine timing) has sprinkled in opportunities—like being an early adopter of spinning or having loyal clients who stuck with us through thick and thin—that amplified everything else.
To anyone reading this: Don’t wait for luck to strike—create as many opportunities as possible through consistent effort, stay humble when things go well, and keep faith when they don’t. Luck favors the prepared, and in my case, it’s been a partner to perseverance rather than the main story. I’m grateful for every bit of it, good and bad, because it’s all shaped the thriving, faith-centered community we are today. 💪
