Meet Tina Aldatz of Savvy Travelers in Laguna Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina Aldatz.

Tina is a self-made millionaire with a 10th grade education and shares her personal tragedy, turned destiny in her book, From Stilettos to the Stock Exchange. Growing up in a volatile home, then severely burning her feet on buried hot coals at the beach, Tina later created Foot Petals, a line of designer insole cushions for high heels. Foot Petals became a multi-million-dollar company recognized by Inc. 500 as one of the “500 fastest growing companies in America.” Currently she is doing it again as CEO of Savvy Travelers, launching beauty wipes for women on the go.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been nothing but bumpy! I made my mark on the world as a self-starting entrepreneur and founder of Foot Petals, the revolutionary line of designer insole cushions for women’s high heels. Derived from a severe burn injury on both her feet as a child, I created Foot Petals to help fill a gap in the market for women’s high-heeled foot support.

As a child of domestic violence and a pediatric burn survivor, I have overcome many challenges in my life. But it wasn’t until I was embraced by the footwear industry, that I really felt like part of a community. I was welcomed with open arms and took the opportunity to turn my traumatic burn injury into an entrepreneurial success story.

I grew up in severe poverty in east LA, but within the last two decades, I escaped from a life of abuse and a pediatric burn patient to found Foot Petals with my best friend Margarita Floris, the shoe cushion company that we grew to sell for millions… and now Margarita and I are attempting to do it all over again in another category with Savvy Travelers designer beauty wipes for women on the go. Our uncompromising tenacity as independent thinkers willing to risk everything has made us the successful Latina serial entrepreneurs we are today!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Savvy Travelers – what should we know?
Currently, I am the CEO of Savvy Travelers, alongside my best friend, Co-Founder and president, Margarita Floris. The Savvy Travelers collection of designer beauty wipes are curated for the sophisticated on-the-go woman. Savvy Travelers will keep you fresh and fabulous from head to toe, one swipe at a time, offering products in convenient kits and single-use packets that are disposable, individually wrapped, and eco-friendly. With Savvy Travelers “traveling” with you, essentially you can freshen up anywhere, any time without running water… No Water? No Problem!

As CEO of Savvy Travelers, I am running the business and keep the well-oiled machine going. However, my passion is in the marketing and creating of the products, designing packaging and coming up with creative concepts that sell the product.

As a small business owner, a female, and a minority (I am half Mexican and half Irish) …I am most proud of creating new jobs in California and being a mentor to Millennials.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Creative, out of the box thinking and a good sense of humor has gotten me to where I am today… because sometimes you just have to laugh at things, but perseverance and drive is everything.

I worked with Tina for years designing and producing Retail Displays for the FootPetals like. She was great to work with, always allowing me to present new and fresh ideas. We helped her with the Dillard’s account as well as other boutiques and small retailers. She still calls me today to help her with a merchandising challenge. I was truly amazed at her company’s meteoric rise. We started with a few small acrylic units, designed some demo units for her TV appearances, then it grew to run after run of stunning displays. Tina’s hard work and perseverance are what built her company. I’m just glad I was able to help. Tina even donated truckloads of Men’s insoles that retailers didn’t take to be distributed to soldiers all over the world by the USO. Keep an eye on Savvy Travelers and their Business-Savvy CEO!
