Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Ritz.
Adam , please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started out as an actor/waiter, stumbled into teaching acting, and wound up in a commercial for a local car dealer, and I talked him into letting me direct a spot, which meant I had to figure out how to shoot the damn thing. That’s really how it all started.
Has it been a smooth road?
No, not at all. I’m not good at the marketing hustle when it comes to me. I’m always hoping the work will speak for itself. Sometimes it does, but other times, it’s the life of a starving artist.
What were you like growing up?
Well, a little bit of the class clown. Way more interested in fun than work. Played sports, ran around with my friends, pretty typical. Bikes and skateboards. I grew up here in L.A., Beverly Hills, actually. My parents had money for about an hour and a half in the 70s. All gone by the 80s. It was the hardscrabble streets of “south of the tracks” Beverly Hills, where the renters lived.
What is your favorite childhood memory?
My friends. My small circle of close friends, many of whom I’m still close with. With honorable mention to my loving, supporting parents.
So, what should we be on the lookout for, what’s next in store for you?
Actually, yes. I just bought a small parcel of land in North LA County, and I’m going to try to build a small house for myself with cash, so I don’t have a mortgage. It’ll be half off the grid if I can get reasonably priced solar. Unabomber manifesto NOT included.

As one of the aforementioned childhood friends, I can attest to the fact that a) Adam is not fond of hustling for himself and b) we had fun.
