Meet Tetro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tetro.

Hi Tetro, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I tried many different career paths before magic, such as being a jewelry designer, fire dancer, tech recruiter, and eventually co-founded a tech company in the social media space. All of these professions were interesting in their own way, but none of them were truly fulfilling for me. While searching for a career that integrated my passions and talents I discovered a Japanese philosophy called Ikigai, which looks for the intersection of what we love, what we are good at, what the world needs, and what we can be paid for. That’s when I realized it was my first love, magic.

Magic was my first real obsession as a kid. I became inspired after seeing a magician named Jeff McBride perform incredible sleight of hand magic on TV. I began studying McBride’s work and performing magic at my school. By age sixteen, I was asked to perform for a live telethon and got to experience being on stage for the first time. Magic stuck with me over the years but it was only a hobby until much later when I discovered it was my true passion and it all came full circle.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I started off with a rough childhood. My family was pretty broken because my father suffered from depression and was at times abusive. His behavior and words caused a lot of pain which led me to move out on my own when I was sixteen. Things became harder when I lost both of my parents – my father to suicide and my mom to breast cancer. This caused me to spiral and I began to isolate. During those dark times, magic brought a much-needed light. The deepening connection to magic and art became my primary source of healing.

Through creative self-expression and connecting with the community I began to have breakthroughs. I decided that I wouldn’t live my life feeling like a victim of circumstance. Instead, I would be a survivor and focus on growth and contribution. I read a lot of personal development literature and did a lot of work on myself. I came to peace with my past and focused on creating a joyful and vibrant future. Life has continued to get better and I’m incredibly grateful for where I am now. I hope that the success I’ve found can be a source of inspiration to those I connect with through my passion of magic.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I love every aspect of magic including magic theory and psychology. I’m an expert in highly visual sleight of hand magic, as well as mentalism effects like mind reading and predictions. I often perform roaming magic also known as “strolling” magic. I do large stage shows, medium-sized parlor shows, and more intimate close-up shows. Because of my background in fire performance, I have also developed a way to blend my love of fire and magic into something truly unique and special. One of the effects I am known for is my “floating fire” in which I levitate fire through the air. You have to see it to believe it! I was fortunate to showcase early versions of my fire routines on the television show “Masters of Illusion”. I am currently working on more material for television as well as developing a new show for the world-famous Magic Castle in Hollywood. Stay tuned!

In terms of what I’m most proud of at the moment, I’d have to say my close-up magic as well as my international reach through magical competitions. I began competing last year and won five awards for my strolling magic, close-up magic, and mentalism. I was also named Corporate Magician of the Year which is fun!

I’d say what sets me apart from other performers is my focus on creating heartfelt and meaningful magic. I want the magic to be as strong as possible, meaning I want it to feel very impossible but also have an emotional impact. I believe real magic happens inside our minds and hearts. By focusing on strong material and presentations that are relatable I feel that my message connects more deeply, resonates powerfully, and becomes more memorable.

What were you like growing up?
I was pretty wild as a kid. I loved exploring, learning, performing, and participating in anything fast and exciting, like skateboarding and other extreme sports. I rode motorcycles and earned my skydiving certification at eighteen years old, racking up dozens of jumps. As a thrill seeker, I was always looking for that wow moment. That’s one of the things I love most about magic – that wow feeling. I enjoy bringing that feeling to people in a safe, fun, and special way.

My goal is to reach as many people as possible so thank you for taking the time to listen to my story. If you’re interested in learning more or seeing me perform, please feel free to reach out!
