Meet Stephanie Van Burk

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Van Burk.

Hi Stephanie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I always loved drawing, painting, creating all types of things extremely colorful since my earliest childhood. In my 20ies, I have drawn inspiration from the places I would travel to as a fashion model and used that inspiration to create. I was able to experience firsthand the world of fashion through modeling.

As my passion grew and I felt unfulfilled, I decided to follow my primary passion and graduate as a fashion designer at the Marangoni Fashion Institute in Milan to expand my talents and develop new skills in fashion design. After graduating and working for few brands in Milan, I decided to create my own: Van Burk Official.

Eight years ago now, I found myself being drawn to the Californian coastlines and I decided to pursue new life and inspiration by moving out there. I set up my studio and began exploring my new home, discovering the colorful heart of California’s coast which gave birth to a new vision in my art.

Van Burk Official has taken California sunshine to the next level with a newest line of vibrant hand-painted one-of-a-kind vegan leather jackets. I developed a new style: abstract expressionism seemed to answer all questions of my heart and became part of me.

My brand’s motto is “Wear Your True Colors”, which stands for equality, human rights, self-confidence and of course, Love.

I encourage people to embrace their personality to the fullest and to color the streets of the world one colorful jacket at the time 🧚🏻

I am now on a mission to spread the love all around me with colors, art and happiness. Follow @vanburkofficial and join the @vanburkgang 🫶

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been quite of a smooth road filled with healthy challenges. As my jackets are pieces of art, they belong as well into galleries than stores. I had an extraordinary experience with the Laguna Art Gallery where I exposed last year.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an abstract painter as well as a fashion designer. I brought up those 2 skills together to create one of a kind jackets, handpainted. Every design are one of a kind.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I guess the fact that I could expose in an Art Gallery was a lucky start. Then, I came across a couple of young upcoming star musicians with who I worked with. Which lead me to create an outfit for a producer that went to the Grammy’s last year.
