Meet Stephanie Mazzeo of The Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Mazzeo.

Stephanie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As a Freelance Makeup Artist with 20+ years of industry experience, I’ve been fortunate enough to work coast-to-coast on multiple projects, including film, TV, music videos, commercials, print & more!

It all started with a little KISS……..

Somewhere near Philadelphia, PA, in the year 1992, I was asked by a KISS tribute band to assist the musicians with their makeup application.

Let’s just say that’s where it all began.

Originally from Allentown, Pennsylvania, I eventually decided to leave the snow behind. Now based in North/Central Florida with a second residence in Los Angeles, CA, I continue to work coast to coast on movies, music videos, films, commercials and for private clients, including Universal Studios – Halloween Horror Nights.

Beginning my profession with makeup for the KISS tribute band Miss-Behavin’, my career has taken me cross country for countless projects and numerous assignments. I am able to travel and/or relocate for the duration of the project and has a valid passport for travel nationwide & internationally. I am located near an international airport which makes traveling for on location services quick and easy.

Has it been a smooth road?
It was much more difficult before the dawn of the internet. When I started my career path, it took a great deal of networking to connect with other industry people. Schooling was few and far between and my skill was self-taught through trial and error.

Now that the world wide web is commonplace, it presents a new challenge. YouTube has recently created an overabundance of “pro makeup artists”. The industry is saturated with makeup artist due to TV exposure and makeup schools that are now readily available. Newer artist who are anxious to work have lowered the pay levels and it’s not easy to make a living as it once was.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Stephanie Mazzeo – Makeup Artist – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Film, TV, commercials, corporate videos, and music videos are my primary focus. I also provide services for the general public for weddings, proms, special occasions, and photoshoots.

I have developed a unique talent for tattoo cover up and am able to cover tattoos and keep it still looking like skin.

I also provide out of kit special FX, creating bruises, cuts, sores, etc. for movies and TV and Halloween type events. Seasonally, I work for Universal Studios for the Halloween Horror Night event that they host each year.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
There is no comparable energy than that found in L.A. It’s an artistic city built on talent, drive, and determination. If you can stomach the traffic and competition and focus on your goal, L.A. will definitely be a rewarding experience.
