Today we’d like to introduce you to Stella Lee.
Stella, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
From a young age, I’ve loved making things with my hands. Being creative was the only outlet I had to express myself; it’s always been a joyful and therapeutic process- I still feel the same way about it now. I began selling jewelry and cactus/succulent arrangements during college to make some money while I was going to school full-time and not working.
Since then, I’ve participated in pop-up events (my favorite!), gone through two business name changes, new websites, and so forth trying to perfect and grow this small business dream of mine! My online shop now features jewelry & accessories (including baby accessories!) and home decor; and I hope they’ll bring out that same JOY in you as they do in me!
Has it been a smooth road?
I wish the road were easy and smooth! It’s certainly been challenging figuring everything out on my own without any previous business experience, education, or expertise; I am flying blind a lot of the time aside from the internet research I do. Since I’m the maker, photographer, content creator, marketer, copywriter, packer, and everything in between (on top of a full-time corporate job), time management is also difficult. One thing I want to mention to anyone considering pursuing their dreams- if you’ve been on the receiving end of discouragement or doubt from others or even yourself, I want to encourage you to be confident, believe in yourself, ignore those lies, and work hard! I believe in you!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Something Stellar – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
We offer handmade, timeless goods at an affordable price. I know shopping small can be considered a luxury or inaccessible to a lot of people, so affordability is always a big priority to me. I want our products to be attainable to everyone, not just a select group! I also love that our jewelry is very versatile in that it can be dressed up or down, so you can get a lot of wear out of it; plus our timeless designs will stand through all the trends that come and go. Lastly, I am always willing to accommodate my customers- from making minor adjustments, providing cards with a note for orders to a friend, to offering custom work; I’m here to make it work for you!
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I lived in Koreatown, Los Angeles for over ten years and moved to Chino Hills a little under two years ago. It’s the first time in my life I am living outside of Los Angeles County! I love living in Chino Hills because it has everything you would want or need in a city (with free and easy parking everywhere, YAY!) while also being a very quiet place to live. My only complaint is that I wish there were more Asian eateries and grocery stores, I definitely miss that about Koreatown!
