Meet Solachi Voz of Richmond, Ca

Today we’d like to introduce you to Solachi Voz.

Solachi Voz

Hi Solachi, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
When I decided to get serious about my music career, I had a very limited budget and was doing gig economy type jobs in the wake of the pandemic. As we all know, constant creation and music production are not cheap ventures, and I was hard-pressed to find avenues that allowed me to create while staying within budget. When I first moved to California, I have been part of a production company that now since dissolved, and was able to start to pick up the basics behind recording arts, engineering and mixing, and graphic arts and design. Since I had an abundance of time, I found myself challenging myself to write verses in less than 16 minutes (16 bars, 16 minutes). I told my fanbase if they would support me financially, I would invest in the recording equipment to be able to record at home instead of always going to the studio, so that I could create more consistent art for them. They responded, and I was able to get a mac mini, protools, and an interface with a microphone from guitar center. After I received the items, I prayed and asked God to teach me how to set it up, operate it, and improve my skills that I had already softly learned when I moved to Oakland in 2016. Of course, God delivered! Since this time, I’ve been blessed to record mix and master almost 20 tracks that I subsequently released on Youtube and also as part of my first album, “QUASAR“.

Through this process, I was not only able to save money, but also learned about the power behind consistency, and just trying things out to see how they’ll go without being afraid of failure. Within the same timeframe, I have also started my digital strategy and web design business called Solachi Writes Ink, and have been blessed to work with nonprofits, record labels, several business owners. I recently partnered with the small business development center in San Francisco to assist new existing business owners with their digital strategies, and define target market audiences. The wild part is that all of this happened during a time where I had surgery on my rotator cuff, so physical pain should’ve stopped most of this process. I was determined not to allow that. I knew that moving to California in 2016 was called that God placed on my life. All I had when I got here was a duffel bag of clothes, $300 and a one-way plane ticket to the Bay Area. It hasn’t been all fun and games at all. Earlier this year, I had experienced homelessness and lived in my car while delivering groceries and meal orders through on demand delivery sites. I decided that I have nothing left to lose except time, and I knew exactly what I wanted to spend the rest of my life doing. This year has been the first year that I’ve experienced open doors in a meaningful and momentous way, and the most gratifying part about it is that I haven’t had to sacrifice my faith or moral standards for these doors to come to me, opened already. I consider it an honor to have gone through what I went through because it will set someone else free to pursue their calling in life, as well.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Ohio – Injuries. Car accident caused spinal pressure in my neck and I had to give up my apartment, car, and job to move home (under parents insurance). Was a member of a record label run by an individual that was only interested in benefiting from me under the table, personally and professionally.

California – Accidentally joined a cult pretending to be a media team. Left three years later in the middle of the night when it was safe, with what I could carry.

Shoulder surgery, to reattach cuff after a work injury .

Unfortunately I have abusive relationships, emotionally and sexually, and financially. Dated two narcissistic people back to back. These experiences made me become more self-aware, God-aware, and understand that codependency was an addiction that I had to get over, as well as the pain killers that had been prescribed to after my injuries / surgeries.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What sets me a part is there’s not that many women who rap well without it being sexually based.

My art only exists to give glory to God, and that’s what I believe has allowed me to persevere through the hardships that I’ve been through, and still deliver quality. By listening to my music, it would be hard to gauge where I came from because I’ve been blessed to be talented in many sub genres and sounds of hip-hop.

Another thing that sets me apart is the fact that I possess a high business acumen, and look to serve others with what I create. I help others create a sensible digital strategy themselves. Being an artist that understands how to build websites, run social media platforms, while having knowledge on how to navigate relationships with banks, small business opportunities, and community events makes me an asset wherever I am, and with whomever I work with. My music brings life, reflection, and light. My artist name means Blessed Voice of the Son.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
At the end of the day, I only take the risks that I’ve prayed about because walking by faith is the definition of risky. Healthy risk makes room for growth, success, learning, or all three. When you’re too comfortable, take a risk, and try something new!
