Today we’d like to introduce you to Saleen Sanchez
Hi Saleen, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I had my first baby during the pandemic in 2020, and I was really struggling with postpartum depression and anxiety. Trying to navigate being a first time mom can be stressful in itself, let alone trying to manage everything that comes with a pandemic. With all the uncertainty, spending time on TikTok helped pass the time. Most of the videos on my for you page were small business owners making and selling stickers. Creating and making designs has always been a passion of mine and I thought what better way to help keep my mind busy by starting a small business. My father has been a business over for over 20 years, and with all his success it has pushed me to start a business of my own. I started Blooming Mama Designs in January 2021 with the support of my husband and my family. My business allows me to work from home. I have been blessed to be able to do what I love and raise my two boys. They are a constant reminder to never give up and to keep pushing forward.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I had a lot of self doubt in the beginning, and it’s still something that I struggle with today. I feel as if nobody will like my small business or the products I’m selling. And through my content creating and posting, I have to make sure to stay relevant and with the trends, use trending music and research videos to see what’s trending and getting views. Another huge factor would be time management. I have to make sure to give enough time to my business for content creating, booking markets and pop ups and building my inventory. Also, balancing time between working and spending time with my two babies.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
When I was creating my name Blooming Mama Designs, I wanted it to be relevant to myself and my life. With being a first time mom and going through postpartum depression and anxiety, I never thought I would overcome it. When I started to feel like myself again I was so grateful to get out of that postpartum haze. Blooming Mama Designs is a direct reflection of how I overcame my postpartum anxiety and depression and grew through my journey of motherhood. As a mother I am forever learning and blooming as a mother. Overcoming my battles, my hard days, and being a better mommy for my boys. The products I sell have a lot to do with helpful reminders, positive quotes, and relatable mommy things. Through my small business I want to be able to help others that are battling with their mental health. I have a small mommy owned business that sells all things cute and positive. I sell glassware with wraps that have cute designs and positive messages, along with keychains and stickers. I’m currrently branching out and working on some apparel designs as well. I’m most proud of getting over my fear of failure and just putting myself out there and stepping out of my comfot zone. Don’t be afraid to take that leap and put your all into something you love doing! I truly feel like my main purpose is to help spread positivity through my small business.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
One piece of good luck would be getting this interview actually! Having someone refer me to something like this is something I would have never imagined doing with my small business. I’m always trying to find the positive every day. If I’m having a hard day as a mommy or just in general and I feel like everything is going wrong I always try and find something positive in my day and focus on that. I try my best to not let negativity or hard moments get the best of me. I feel as if you stay positive throughout your life, you manifest and focus on achieving your goals, and you don’t let anything negative get in your way, you won’t have room for bad luck to sneak up behind you.
