Meet Sabrinamarie Rosas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabrinamarie Rosas.

Hi Sabrinamarie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Ten years ago, I started my photography journey. I had a wonderful mentor; She took me along as her assistant. I accompanied her on weddings, family, and portrait shoots. However, I took a long break from photography and I tried to explore other career avenues.

During the pandemic, the restaurant I worked at closed down, and I took that as a fresh start. I jumped into modeling and photography. For me, modeling seemed like an easier way to slide into the industry and start networking- It was! I’ve been modeling for over the past year and am completely in love with it. Modeling opened so many doors and helped my photography career take off. I felt this nostalgia as if I was returning to my first love. I’m excited when I get to collaborate and work with other photographers/models and create art. I have been able to do some modeling work in e-commerce, lifestyle and get published in magazines! All the while, I’ve had the privilege of meeting some fantastic people along the way.

Nowadays, I am just beginning to grow my photography business as I team up with makeup artists, other photographers, and even a childcare expert for newborn photography.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The first time I attempted a photography business, it failed miserably. I took a step back and looked at my failures as a sign to stop. I would tell myself, “Maybe this isn’t my thing.” Not knowing where my niche was, I changed my major in college quite a bit. I went from being a photography major to a music major. Then to a photojournalism major, to a child development major (where I finally received my associate’s). Finally, I’m currently on the way to obtaining my B.A. in communicative disorders. I have worked as a waitress for six years. I’ve also had experience being an assistant teacher in a preschool and Nanning. At the time, I felt empty. I was filled with uncertainty about where my life was headed. I started to question the quality of my life. Because I was coming to my mid-twenties, I felt anxious, like my time was running out. I couldn’t help but ask myself, “If I got to the end of my life, would I regret not trying to pursue the things I’ve loved?” Of course, it’s hard to start though. It’s not easy to pursue your dreams, and there will be a lot of self-doubts.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am 26 years old, a model, a photographer, and a full-time college student. I do all types of photography, from weddings, graduations, engagements, maternity, boudoir, headshots, and creative portraits. My favorite title is probably a photographer because I have more creative liberty there. Being a model is fun because I’m still a part of that creative process and can be a part of someone’s art, which I love. I learn from other photographers, so it’s an excellent experience for me to be in front and behind the camera.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
In the next 5 to 10 years, I hope to see both my modeling and photography business grow. I hope to continue to grow my clientele, perfect my craft, and possibly get into different areas within the industry. I’m also interested in acting and trying to add more to my skills lists, like learning a new language! I hope where ever my career path leads me; it leads me to happiness.
