Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosetta Tate.
Hi Rosetta, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Growing up in the church gave me ample opportunity to develop my love for singing & public speaking. I performed at talent shows, in school theater productions and entered speech contests all of which have contributed to who you see today. I vividly remember reciting my first speech in the 4th grade to the entire student body & faculty staff who were all astonished at how poised and confident I was.
During high school, my guidance counselor suggested I enroll into the Regional Occupational Program that helps students with on the job training for a future career in Media. This opportunity catapulted into becoming a part of a weekly community news show called ED.News. that was broadcasted on our local cable network. As an anchor and staff reporter, I continued to hone my craft of public speaking and journalism. Shortly after high school, while attending college, I wanted to enjoy being on set with the stars so I signed up with an extra company called Central Casting.
I knew that I wanted to pursue a career working on a set full time so I made the investment and began taking classes. Those classes included: scene study, cold reading, commercial, social media marketing, leadership & public speaking. I also made sure to get my social media pages aligned to attract and market to directors, casting directors, writers and content creators to collaborate with. I started submitting for auditions on several casting sites. I joined Long Beach In Your City News where I am now a Senior Production Manager & Staff Reporter. I have successfully landed roles in independent short films, feature films, psa, industrials, web series, improv short form content & recently hired to be an actor for companies who produce reels for actors.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey is challenging at times due to the loss of loved ones, unsupportive family & friends and unexpectant crisis such as the Pandemic.
I’ve learned that you must bet on yourself, believe in your abilities and dream BIG. Be patient with yourself and prioritize time for self care. Live in your truth, take risks and above all stay grateful & humble doing what you love.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a full time mother with a love for all things entertainment. For the last five years, I have been volunteering my time with the incredible community news organization Long Beach In Your City News. Now as Senior Producer and a working actress, my days are filled with auditions, reading scripts, researching events to cover, creating online content for marketing, training new reporters, reaching out to casting directors and writers.
I am most proud of becoming a positive role model to both my daughter and every brown-skinned girl who admires my work. I see the glow in her eyes whenever we’re online watching YouTube: a Dharmann episode, Zach King’s Stranded Part 2, Steve Royall’s comedy sketches on Instagram or watching Reggie Gaskin’s hit original film, “Our Christmas Love Story” now streaming on TUBI.
I am a professional, reliable, passionate creative who has such a powerful presence both on and off camera. I don’t wait around for opportunities and I enjoy lending my skills to student projects, indie films & hopefully, soon network television. I exude a humble confidence from the moment I step into a room before one word is uttered from my lips. I am consistent in my brand, projecting a genuine love for learning everything media and willingness to assist those who desire to embark on a career in media. This is what distinguishes me from others.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I enjoy listening to audiobooks whenever I’m in my car sitting in the notorious LA traffic scene. Among those are several autobiographies of entertainers. It helps me realize that everyone’s path in this thing called show business is different. Currently, I’m reading actress Viola Davis “Finding Me”.
Here are some great reads:
Joyce Meyer “Do it Afraid”
Shonda Rhimes “Year of Yes”
Taraji P. Henson “Around the Way Girl”
Tabitha Brown “Feeding the Soul”
Joel Olsteen “Become A Better You”
Miguel Ruiz “The Four Agreements”
Apps I enjoy:
I am (Daily affirmations)
TUBI (watch free movies)
Candy Crush (Come on now …don’t laugh)
Libby (An electronic library source for audiobook fans such as myself)
PhotoRoom (an amazing photo editing app …did someone say perfect selfie?)
