Meet Robyn Rhodes of Robyn Rhodes Jewelry in North Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robyn Rhodes.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Robyn. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started making jewelry when I was 12 years old (Little did I know that a 5-dollar box of beads would be responsible for the early stages of my creativity and more importantly my future career!) I always knew I was an artist, but I didn’t know what medium I would end up pursuing. I ended up studying film in college and began working in film and television just after graduation. A few years later, September 11th happened and production just stopped. I was working freelance at the time, making jewelry at home and just waiting for the phone to ring for a film/tv gig. I found so much more creativity and personal satisfaction with jewelry making. I told myself that I had to give this jewelry thing a shot! So with that I threw my hat over the fence and haven’t looked back since…that was over 15 years ago!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Having been at this for over 15 years, the journey hasn’t been without its ups and downs. But my passion and drive has seen me through the good and bad. I’ve had to learn to take risks and trust my gut with every creation and every teammate I’ve brought into my company.

Employees, publicists, sales reps– you never know how any of these people will work out, but you have to give them a try because they are the components for your everyday and for your future. Each person has taught me valuable lessons.

As far as the designing process goes, you never know how a final product will truly resonate with a customer, but you owe it to yourself and the faith you have in your artistry to put it out there for everyone to see and hopefully the customers will love it as much as you do!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Robyn Rhodes Jewelry – what should we know?
I established my namesake women’s jewelry company in 2002 with the intention of creating accessible luxury with the heart of community. I have customers in their 20’s and their 70’s who wear their jewelry on a date, or to the park to watch their grandkids play. I just want woman to feel adorned and empowered when they wear my pieces, no matter what stage of life they’re in.

Each piece is handcrafted in Los Angeles and we make it a priority to support local artisans who love what they do. As I’m designing a piece, I let the stones speak for themselves and I design around them. I specialize in organic stones, so everything is unique in texture, color and shape. Each item is truly one of a kind! It’s been fun to see my pieces worn by celebrities and TV personalities like The Bachelorettes but my goal as always been to hold tight to the company’s sense of community, personality and accessibility.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Of all people, my accountant! He had more faith in me than I did!

Also, my best friend also told me should would be there for me no matter what, and that I had to try this.
