Meet Robert Short of Superior Bin Rentals in San Gabriel Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Short.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Robert. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I worked in the waste management industry since 1991. In that time, while working for other companies, I heard every possible concern or question from customers as to how their temporary waste service could be better. In 2015, I decided to take all of my experiences and custom tailor a temporary bin rental business that is CUSTOMER-CENTERED. The service, equipment, and perks I provide I believe to be the best in my geographic area and in my field.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The greatest struggle has been promotion. With the advent of the internet, vying for the number one spot on the search engine can be a daunting task, and an expensive one at that. It used to be so much easier to take out a quarter-page print ad in the local Yellow Pages and IMMEDIATELY begin receiving phone calls for one set fee. But with the internet, things are not quite so easy.

Superior Bin Rentals – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We rent temporary, 3 yard bins for waste disposal, and we are also partnered with a roll-0ff company for larger orders. Customers who are either moving into, or out of, their current residence invariably create plenty of trash during the moving process. We rent the waste bins so our customers can dispose of their waste in a quick and efficient manner. We provide our containers for all types of waste disposal: post-yard sale waste; relocation waste; small yard waste clean-up projects; small local events, i.e. farmers markets, parties, celebrations where many people will attend and generate plenty of waste; minor construction clean-up projects; local film and television locations for craft services and strikes; real estate broker listings (fast clean ups to prepare the home for open house), etc.

We are the only private company in California to use polyethylene bins as opposed to steel. Steel bins can be very heavy and difficult to move from place to place on a property, but not our bins. Our bins are lightweight, roll easily and are very clean and have smooth, round edges. We are known for our bins, and all of our customers have come to prefer them over traditional steel. We also provide, at no charge, heavy duty construction trash bags to assist customers with their disposal efforts. Further, we are not just a bin rental company, we are a total waste management assistance team. We will give our customers plenty of useful information to make their disposal efforts simple and more cost effective. And finally, our 7-day delivery and removal availability sets us apart from most of our competitors. When other companies close their doors, ours are OPENED!!!

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
My uncle always told me “success is where others have benefited by you being in their lives.” I suppose providing unparalleled and outstanding customer service to my customers is one marker. Another marker can be the referrals I get from satisfied customers, and I do receive PLENTY of referrals. Happy. repeat customers and their referrals are always a great yardstick for success. Word-of-mouth marketing is truly the best!
