Today we’d like to introduce you to Richa Agrawal
Hi Richa, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
From a young age, I have showed a keen interest in drawing and painting. Encouraged by family and teachers, I have spent countless hours sketching and experimenting with different mediums. I have pursued formal education in the arts and enrolled in a reputable art school where I have worked on my skills, learned about art history, and explored various techniques and styles. I have faced the typical struggles of an emerging artist and have participated in local art shows and fairs, gradually building a portfolio and a network.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Art sales can be unpredictable, leading to financial instability. Facing rejection from galleries, competitions, or clients is common and can be discouraging. Dealing with criticism, both constructive and harsh, requires resilience. Finding and evolving a unique style takes time and experimentation. Balancing art with personal life and other responsibilities often demands significant time management. The pressures of creating, promoting, and selling art can lead to stress and burnout.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in contemporary mixed-media art, combining traditional painting techniques. My art often includes hidden layers and symbolic elements, inviting viewers to look deeper and find personal connections. My work often explores themes of identity, memory, and the passage of time, blending realistic portraiture with abstract forms. Additionally, my commitment to incorporating community and personal narratives into my work adds a layer of depth and accessibility that resonates with a wide audience.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
In addition to my skills with a paintbrush, I am also a professional classical Kathak Dancer. This aspect of my life is not widely known but significantly influences my creative process. The harmony and rhythm I finds in dance often inspire the fluidity and composition of my paintings. The emotional depth I am able express through dance is also evident in the evocative quality of my visual art.
