Meet Renee Kennedy-Powers of earthbaby boutique & creative learning center in Sherman Oaks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Renee Kennedy-Powers.

Owner Renee Kennedy- Powers started using cloth diapers in 2013 when her son Tannen was born highly allergic to disposable diapers. After learning about the toxic substances found in disposable diapers and the environmental impact they leave on our planet cloth diapering became more than just a necessity, it became a passion! Renee wants to share her passion with others by spreading the word about all of the great benefits of using cloth diapers and making it accessible and practical for everyone.

Earth Baby Boutique is LA’s premier cloth diaper and eco- boutique! We carry the largest selection of cloth diaper brands as well as babywearing, organic baby and maternity care, baby feeding products and unique eco-friendly toys. Earth baby was born from the idea that the internet shouldn’t be the only place to find the cloth diapers your searching for, we know that every family has a preference and unique situation. Let us make finding the right cloth diaper solution easy with in store education & product selection assistance. If you want a unique baby gift. This is your spot.

Here at Earth Baby our greatest mission is to create a caring judgment free place where people can comfortably come and learn, share and buy the things they need to create a green and happy lifestyle for their families. For us going green was a path we just found ourselves on one day. What we found was a huge eye opening but overwhelming world of products and information. We want to help make your path simple and easy. Regardless of whether or not you are the crunchiest of granola greens, or a newbie to the green scene, we are here to help! No question is too small, and every little step makes an impact.

In 2017, Renee felt like it was time to grow earthbaby a bit and added the earthbaby creative learning space. The creative learning space is a walk-in craft center. We have an amazing space where you can come and be creative and leave the mess behind. We offer hosted events such as birthday parties…baby showers and parents night in. We also offer open studio hours where you can make and take a craft, along with classes and workshops.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been an amazing rollercoaster these last couple years. We have met and helped so many amazing families and that’s what makes it all worth it. My passion just continues to grow, but it is not easy. Being a small family owned business and a brick and mortar to boot, makes things super challenging. With online shopping and Amazon, we have to continue to be different and offer much more then you get while online shopping or in a standard big box shop. I am always reminding everyone I know the importance of supporting your local small shops. The overhead is very high for these small shops and we all really need support right now. Shop small and local ya’all!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with earthbaby boutique & creative learning center – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are known for our customer service and our passion foremost. Then I would say we are known for being the cutest coolest eco-baby boutique in Los Angeles. I am so proud to say our customers have amazingly kind words to offer about earthbaby. All over social media I am constantly seeing people recommend earthbaby and that makes me super proud. We are the place you go if you want cloth diapers, baby carriers and any organic eco-friendly locally made boutique gift! Renee also teaches classes outside of earthbaby such as cloth diapering and baby wearing. She is a postpartum doula and also a certified babywearing educator.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We would love to open more locations and expand the boutique and the creative learning space. We are busting at the seams at our Sherman Oaks location. Growing is good, right?
