Today we’d like to introduce you to Raul Colacion & Gerardo Carreon.
Hi Raul & Gerardo, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The both of us have been great friends for over ten years. Whenever we saw each other, we would just hang out, make music, and have a good time. One day we realized all of our conversations, deep talks, and us joking around would sound great on a podcast! We thought, “Why don’t we start one already?” We possessed all the recording equipment and open space to start it in, so we started rather quickly getting to work. In the beginning, we invited our close friends and family, and eventually strangers started messaging us, saying they were interested in having their own episode. We have had so much support and positive feedback and it’s helped us continue to push forward and become more dedicated to building up the Rats In The Attic podcast. We are always looking for guests to come onto the show to give them their very own platform where they can share a glimpse of their lives with us. For Rats In The Attic, we want to post episodes where someone’s struggle might help someone else find solace because they can relate, help small businesses so they can grow, and just show our guests a good time in a safe space with no prejudice or judgments.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When we first started this project of ours, it was nerve-wracking; it also made us feel vulnerable for putting ourselves out there from strangers to people we’ve known for a long time. Between the two of us, we struggled to get our scheduling down and to utilize our equipment, but now that we have achieved that and continue with the podcast, it has been an easygoing, fun, and fulfilling experience. We have been fortunate enough to have had some amazing guests come on, each with their own unique story to share.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
In our work, we invite people from all walks of life to have a platform to speak their minds on. We’re proud of what our podcast has become and the work we have put into it in a short amount of time. Rats In The Attic podcast is based in Moreno Valley, and we’re known for being a very welcoming and humorous podcast. What sets us apart from other podcasts is were not based on one particular subject. We let our guests choose what direction their episode goes in and listen to what they have to speak on. We encourage anybody from anywhere to come and join us. Our hospitality and attentiveness have been praised by all of our past guests. The ambiance we created is like no other; showing the guest a good time is number one to us. We will usually make or buy your favorite drinks, have a cookout after the show, and maybe some karaoke! Many of our guests have become friends and we welcome them all back anytime.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Since we’re a new podcast, we are still finding out ways of networking and putting our names out there. We utilize our social media and find it is the most effective way to promote ourselves. The support from both our friends and family combined with word of mouth has brought attention to our podcast from people we never would expect. Our Instagram has grown, and we like to interact with our followers and stay in touch. We hope one day, we will be able to reach even bigger audiences and branch out beyond Southern California.
