Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Vincent.
Hi Rachel, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve worked in the food service industry for 20 years. My dad was the “head chef” at his fire station while I was growing up. It was only a matter of time before I forged my own path in the industry. As I watched the job market dry up, I started to realize I might be on my own in finding a way to support myself. It’s always been important to me that my job brings me joy, and working for myself, cooking: nothing makes me happier.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The only small business experience I’ve had comes from working for other entrepreneurs/small business owners. I retained more than I’d thought, but overall I started from zero. I spent hours researching legal requirements, studying to obtain health permits, and building & revising my business plan.
My biggest mistakes have always come from over-committing. I end up unnecessarily stressed the day of an event. That said, it’s been an incredible self-improvement practice for me.
As you know, we’re big fans of Private Chef Rachel. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
When I cater, I prefer to keep it intimate with 20 guests or less. Parties of 4-6 are my specialty. I want to help folks cultivate unforgettable dining experiences that bring people together. I love crafting custom menus highlighting seasonal ingredients, artistic plating. There are so many incredible chefs in the Los Angeles area, but I like to think I redefine intimate entertaining by blending the artistry of fine dining with the warmth of home.
When I’m not catering, I’m meal-prepping for families and busy professionals. For those who don’t have the time, energy, or interest in cooking for themselves, I tailor to their tastes and lifestyles—so dinner’s always available, without any stress. One of my favorite services is my Resourceful Reset package. Whether you’re moving or just ready for a pantry purge, I’m eager to help you use up every last ingredient. We’ll do an-home walkthrough of your fridge, freezer & pantry before I prep containers of meals all labeled with storage, reheating, & serving instructions. You’ll even get bonus tips for repurposing ingredients going forward
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
To be realistic. To avoid over-committing. To recognize and respect my own limits. Success has come easier and quicker as I learn to pace myself.
