Meet Rachel Charlupski of The Babysitting Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Charlupski.

Rachel, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I always babysat when I was in high school in Detroit, Michigan and when I went to school in Phoenix area I didn’t know anyone to babysit and with a lot of extra time in college I wanted to continue working as a babysitter. I went to the local hotels and if anyone needed a babysitter they would call me. Soon I started getting calls from clients who I worked with in Phoenix to see if I knew anyone in Los Angeles, NYC etc. because they had work or vacations planned. I realized that I needed to create a network of highly trained and professional sitters in the areas that my clients traveled to most.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Luckily and with a lot of hard work and dedication it has been a great road. If it was too smooth I wouldn’t have learned anything and it is was too hard I wouldn’t be as happy. We appreciate every day and every obstacle. The mission and goal has always been the same. Creating the best experience for both sitters, clients and children.

The Babysitting Company – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The Babysitting Company personally interviews, hires and trains professional babysitters for private residences, fine hotels, travel, special events and professional and collegiate sports teams.

What sets us apart from any other child care company is our ability to match sitters with families for a great overall experience. We also perform a full 10 panel drug test and full background check on all contractors as well as meet everyone personally.

We are most proud of how long our sitters work with us and how happy they are with their jobs.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moments of my career are when sitters save up to travel the world and put themselves through school. It is amazing teaching them and guiding them to be their own bosses and seeing how well they do.
