Meet Phil Rice

Today we’d like to introduce you to Phil Rice.

Phil Rice

Hi Phil, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My passion for acting began early. When I was 13, I joined the Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit. This experience set the foundation for my future, and I pursued my dreams further by attending the University of Michigan. I honed my skills and graduated ready to take on the industry.

My first roles were on popular TV shows such as “Chicago PD” and “Empire.” Now, I live in Los Angeles, and I’m a recurring character (Digo) on Paramount’s hit show “Mayor of Kingstown.” Catch me on Season 3 of the series streaming on Paramount+. It’s been an incredible journey so far, and I’m excited for what’s next!

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road I’ve traveled thus far has been a rollercoaster. In the last 5 years, Hollywood shut down twice. The first time was due to the pandemic. The second time was because of the strike. During these times, I did what I needed to do to survive and put myself in the best position for when we returned to production. The reason I am where I am today is because I never gave up.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an actor, and I am known for being multifaceted, with talents that extend beyond the screen. I am most proud of my ability to create my own path, and I am proud to say that I am the first professional television actor in my family. My mission is to motivate people of all ages to follow their dreams and never give up. I aim to be a living example that with perseverance and passion, you can achieve anything you set your mind to.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5-10 years, I see streaming platforms dominating the entertainment industry even more. Traditional TV will continue to decline as on-demand viewing grows. I also believe there will be an explosion of content from independent filmmakers, thanks to easier access to high-quality production tools. Additionally, films will become more interactive with technologies like VR and AR, offering viewers immersive and participatory experiences. It’s an exciting time to be in the industry, and I’m looking forward to being part of the evolution.
