Today, we’d like to introduce you to Ny’Aira Collins. Ny’Aira was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Chandra “ Cece” Heath.
Ny’Aira , can you walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As my grandmother used to tell the tale; we were laying in bed at the time, I was 3 years old. Our alarm clock was set to FM radio and went off. Apparently, I woke up out my sleep and sang the song playing from beginning to end; something Keith Sweat. That was the spark that started it all!
Given that I was born with a rare breathing condition, and my windpipe is only 60% capacity of what it should be. I was truly blessed with a voice. My first audition was for the play “Annie” on broadway; I beat out 600 girls, but when callbacks came around, I wasn’t selected due to lack of formal dance training. That was the second spark for me personally.
Now 18 years in the industry later, opening up for acts like Dazz Band and Zapp & Roger, Live performances on the historic Daytime Chicago, there’s only the best ahead of me in my career.
Please talk to us about your creative work and career. What should we know?
Art is my passion, it’s practically a part of my DNA. Vastly involved in theatre, television, and composing/writing music since the age of 12. Training in R&B, Jazz,Neo-Soul, Classical/Opera, Rock & many more genres. I love to pull from life’s experiences and tell a story. Whether it’s one of my own, or using my imagination to paint the picture. Evoking emotion in melodies, ad-libs, and harmonies being my specialty. But I wouldn’t be anywhere without my family & team to push me through. Currently working on my sophomore project, be sure to stay tuned for that! In the meantime, allow my debut album “Melodramatic” comfort you and get to know me more. Available on all streaming platforms! This project was written & co-produced by yours truly; alongside the camp of Bass Heavy, Royal Court Records, & creative director Christen”Coco “ Valentine & Carolina Blue Films !
So, as we mentioned to our audience earlier, you were introduced to us by Chandra “ Cece” Heath and Royal Court Records LLC and we really admire them and what they’ve built. For folks who might not be as familiar, can you tell them a bit about your experience with Royal Court Records LLC.
Cece was one of the few people, outside of my immediate family, that kept in touch with my grandmother regarding me. They became close and truly trusted her opinion. Always kept in touch and remained a support form a distance. Once I finally gained the strength and started making music again years later, she was my first point of contact. As most would say, the rest was history.
She is a woman with many hats; mom, manager, coach, motivator, and doesn’t hold back on constructive criticism. Something I truly needed to get back on my feet and into the studio.
We’ve accomplished so much and cultivated the best team! From signing with Sony Orchard in conjunction with Force MDs, opening act for their New York City Lineup, Showcased on Daytime Chicago LIVE, multiple nominations for Best New Artist & Grammy Considerations.
