Meet North Hollywood’s Khder James Hernando

Today we’d like to introduce you to Khder James Hernando.

Khder, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I enjoyed viewing marvelous photos when I was growing up. I started to love travel photography and making travel photos when I was in the US Army during the time that I was stationed in Germany (circa 2006-2008). Up to now, I try to produce beautiful travel photos to share what I see and experience during my travels to my family and friends. For my model photography, I started around 2010/2011 when my friend invited me to worked with him in a model photoshoot. From there I started joining meetup groups and local photography clubs.

Has it been a smooth road?
The major obstacle that I faced when I was learning photography is finding a mentor to guide me in photography and in meeting the models. Money is always a big challenge in photography as camera gear and equipment cost money.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and career?
Luck and hard work are really important. Good luck makes hard work more successful.

Is there a quality or characteristic that has played an outsized role in your success?
Persistence, hard work, & picking up yourself back when you fall and doing it again.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I really like Los Angeles. There’s a lot of stuff to do, most places (i.e. restaurants) are open ’til really early in the morning. Traffic is the thing the I least like about Los Angeles.
