Today we’d like to introduce you to Nathan Steele.
Hi Nathan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I go by NateD.N.A.! I started my brand “PasaDNA” also known as “DNA” an acronym for “Do Nothing Average” back in 2012. It all started with music for me, the clothing was only created to support the music! Along the way, the clothing took on a life of its own which pushed it to the forefront of the business! In just the short time of seven months, I went from selling clothes out of the trunk of my car everyday to a brick and mortar!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I wouldn’t say it’s been a smooth road but I would say it has been a long road! Building a business can be very unpredictable and unstable at times. Nevertheless, it’s necessary for things are built through resistance and constant failures that become wisdom later if you stick to it. What that being said in my personal experience along the way, I struggled where most small businesses do with having enough capital! I simply needed more capital to move the business at the rate I’d like too in terms of marketing/ promoting and even accumulating more stock!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Well, I believe clothes are a big part of your self-confidence and there’s a sense of pride that comes along with feeling great! I love to create that feeling, vibe and energy for others through my choices in style. That’s what I do daily and I love it! I’m most proud of the ability granted to me through my passion and business to Inspire! I believe what sets me apart most from others is that my brand is/was built solely on my point of view and Individuality! Because of that my brand will be ever-changing, unpredictable and progressive which cannot be duplicated! Therefore it’s a “one of one” as we at DNA like to call it! When something is built from a source of pure individuality, it is needed and respected in that right and DNA is that!
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I believe risk are a huge part of your success on all levels meaning big and small! Taking risk in my experience worked great because no matter the outcome I gained, by simply trying! Whether I gained knowledge, a new resource or just the right way to attack a situation, it was all progressive and that’s our purpose is to move forward! I took many risks along the way to my success! Taking risks gave me gifts, one of them being a huge boost in pride and integrity! Once you’ve took risks, you respect what you’ve built more! So in my opinion risk are great, try and be strategic about it but definitely necessary to take risks and believe in yourself!
