Meet Mwtasem (mike) Kojak of Redondo Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mwtasem (mike) Kojak

Hi mwtasem (Mike), it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve been in the fashion industry for eight years, but my journey started long before that. Growing up, I was drawn to the creative arts, particularly fashion and acting. I started by attending casting calls and networking with photographers, designers, and agencies. My breakthrough came when I signed with Diva Modeling Agency, which opened doors to working with major brands and walking in some of the biggest fashion weeks across the U.S.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with renowned fashion houses, including Prada in 2024 That project was a defining moment, reinforcing my passion for high fashion and creative expression. Alongside modeling, I’ve pursued acting, honing my craft through workshops and landing roles in film and commercial projects.

For me, fashion is more than just wearing clothes—it’s about storytelling, expression, and pushing creative boundaries. Every runway, every shoot, and every performance is an opportunity to evolve. I’m excited for what’s next as I continue to build my presence in both fashion and entertainment.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I think that’s what makes the journey worth it. The fashion industry is competitive, and breaking in wasn’t easy. Early on, there were a lot of rejections—castings where I’d show up, give my best, and still not get the job. It took time to build credibility and prove myself.

Another challenge was navigating the unpredictability of the industry. One month, I’d have multiple bookings, and the next, things would be quiet. Learning to stay patient and keep pushing forward, even during slow seasons, was a tough lesson.

There’s also the constant pressure to maintain a certain image. Fashion is all about aesthetics, and staying in peak condition—physically, mentally, and professionally—requires discipline. It’s not just about looking good but also about adapting to different styles, keeping up with trends, and being versatile enough to fit a brand’s vision.

Working with major brands like Prada in 2024 was a huge milestone, but even that came with high expectations and the pressure to perform at an elite level. It’s rewarding, but it demands resilience.

Despite the challenges, every struggle has shaped me into who I am today. I’ve learned to embrace rejection, take risks, and stay committed to growth. Fashion is an ever-evolving space, and I see each challenge as an opportunity to refine my craft and push my boundaries

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I work as a fashion model and actor, specializing in runway, editorial, and commercial work. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to walk in major fashion weeks like LAFW and NYFW, collaborate with renowned brands—including COACH in 2023 and PRADA in 2024—and feature in editorial spreads for magazines like GQ Fashion Europe and Cie Fashion Magazines. My work extends beyond modeling into acting, where I’ve taken on roles in film and commercial projects, continuously refining my craft.

What I’m Known For:
I’m known for my versatility and ability to adapt to different styles, whether it’s high fashion, streetwear, or commercial branding. My experience spans from working with luxury labels to independent designers, and I take pride in bringing energy and authenticity to every project. In acting, I focus on delivering emotionally engaging performances that translate well on camera and stage.

What I’m Most Proud Of:
One of my proudest moments was working on a project with Prada in 2024—a milestone that reaffirmed my place in high fashion. It was a challenging yet rewarding experience that pushed me creatively and professionally. Another highlight was starring in a major commercial campaign, which allowed me to merge both my modeling and acting skills.

What Sets Me Apart:
1-Versatility & Adaptability – Whether it’s an avant-garde runway look or a clean-cut commercial shoot, I have the ability to transform and embody the brand’s vision.
2-Work Ethic & Professionalism – The industry is fast-paced, and I’m known for being reliable, adaptable, and easy to work with on set.
3-Creative Expression – I don’t just wear clothes; I bring them to life. Every pose, movement, and expression tells a story, and I approach my work with an artistic mindset.
4-Acting Background – My experience in acting enhances my ability to convey emotions naturally, making my work in front of the camera more dynamic and engaging.
At the end of the day, I see fashion as a form of storytelling. Every runway, editorial, and campaign is an opportunity to create something impactful. I’m constantly evolving, pushing boundaries, and striving to leave a mark in both the fashion and entertainment industries.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
If you’re just starting out in fashion or entertainment, my biggest advice is to stay persistent and patient. Rejection is part of the process—don’t take it personally. Build your network, put yourself out there, and always be professional because your reputation matters. Invest in your craft—whether that’s improving your walk, perfecting your poses, or refining your on-camera presence. Adaptability is key; trends change, and so should you. Also, know your worth—don’t accept every opportunity just for exposure, especially if it doesn’t align with your goals. Lastly, confidence is everything; if you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will. Keep pushing, stay true to your vision, and never stop evolving.
