Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Danielle Day.
Morgan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Hailing from Baltimore Maryland, by the time of my fourth birthday I knew one thing and that was that I was an artist! Dance is my first love, my mother placed me in tap classes immediately after seeing my little feet petter patter around the mall as if I were Sammy Davis Jr. I began taking ballet, and jazz shortly after, and later grew to love Hip Hop and African dance.
My affinity for crystals and stones also began at a very young age. I’d go into the woods during my Girl Scout hikes, and while the other girls were learning about various plant species, I’d wander off and search scrupulously for rocks and stones. I thought they were incredibly beautiful and fascinating, not just the pretty faceted crystals, but all of the rocks that may’ve appeared ordinary to most.
As an artist, I’ve somehow always recognized the beauty in what would widely be considered the mundane. I was accepted into the prestigious Baltimore School for the Arts as a Theatre Major which drastically impacted the direction of my life. If there was ever any doubt in my mind that I was meant to be an artist BSA certainly solidified it.
I received a BFA in Theatre from Marymount Manhattan College and recently graduated with an MFA in acting from The California Institute of the Arts. Though my graduate school studies were extremely fulfilling, they are were exceptionally demanding both physically and mentally. It was then that I reignited my longtime interest in crystals, but this time with an emphasis on their healing capabilities.
I began carrying them with me everywhere especially class and rehearsals and learning their specific properties as it pertains to each correlating chakra. Wire wrapping and making jewelry just came naturally as another way of artistic expression. As an actress in Los Angeles, I have had the privilege of signing to CESD talent Agency theatrically and Holly Shelton Management.
I have performed in London and Scotland and will soon be traveling to Lagos, Nigeria with the play “Boney M” directed by Edgar Arceneaux which is currently in residence at the Ford Theatre. I also do voice-over work, am filming a web series, just wrapped a feature film and audition often and there is never a day that I don’t have a crystal in my purse, around my neck or sometimes even my bra!
I decided to start my own crystal jewelry business to help and share my passion with others. There are literally millions of crystals, and I’m constantly falling in love with a new one. One day, my best friend called me “Crystal Bae” and I thought “Yes, that’s me!” “Crystal Bae” is now the name of my business!
It is my hope that my creations will help assist someone on their spiritual journey much like they do for myself.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There is no secret that life on an artist has its ups and downs. There are weeks when I have great auditions, book gigs, have amazing rehearsal days and get commissioned to make wonderful pieces of jewelry, and there are weeks where literally nothing happens, or Murphy’s law seems to be in full effect. It can be heartbreaking, but I am grateful for both. I believe in energy and the laws of attraction.
I know that if I surround myself with positivity and truly believe that I am capable of achieving all of my dreams that there is only a matter of time before I do. The journey from east to the west coast for graduate school was particularly difficult because I am extremely close to my family and community. However, I have an enormous support system so everyday I wake up, give thanks and keep pushing forward!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Crystal Bae – what should we know?
The name if my business is “Crystal Bae” formally known as “Day Stone Manifestations.”
One day my best friend called me Crystal Bae, and I knew it summed my personality and products perfectly. I wire wrap crystal jewelry with a specialization in necklaces and custom pieces. My favorite thing is creating bead patterns to accent one of my uniquely wrapped stones.
What I’m most proud of and what I feel sets me apart from other jewelry makers is that when creating custom pieces I always ask my clients what they feel they’re in need of at the moment. Whether it’s abundance, peace, etc. we create the piece together. I always sage and speak positive affirmations for the client over any piece I create.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The amount of love and time I put into my jewelry is definitely most important. Often when I sell to a retailer, they comment on the patients that it takes to create my pieces.
Everything is handmade. If my energy is off, I don’t create. I want nothing but good vibes and positive energy going into my product, and I only use genuine stones.
