Meet Mid City Photographer & Film Director: Reggie Reagor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Reggie Reagor.

Reggie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I began my career in the early 2000’s. I started an independent production company with my two talented friends and we haven’t stopped since. That led me into a becoming a photographer because I found myself to be very good at visual presentation. I gained a lot of experience over the years, and I’m now very confident in my photographer skills, as well as my filmmaking talents.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road by any stretch of the imagination. There have been consistent obstacles that I’ve faced. Equipment breaking down. Shoots being cancelled. Having to chase down clients for payment. Plus, the daily struggles of someone who works for themselves has left me with some experiences that were very stressful. But, it’s all apart of the process.

What type of clients or projects do you look forward to most?
My favorite type of project is when there is a clear understanding of budget, but still a desire for something creative. In many instances, a client doesn’t have the budget for a really big idea that they have and it’s tough to talk them down from their expectations. On the other end, some projects have the budget, but aren’t interested in anything creative and they want a specific idea. It helps tremendously when the client has knows what opportunities that budget provides, but is still open to ideas to make the project better.

What have been some of the most important lessons you’ve learned over the course of your career?
That’s a difficult question to answer because there is no rhyme or reason to being successful in this type of work. Some people become successful quickly, for some it takes many years. Ideally, I want to say all of the things I did wrong, I wish I would have done them right. But all of those decisions were the best option for me at the time. I will say that I’ve always done what I felt was the right decision at the time, so I don’t feel too many regrets.
