Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael St. Michael.
Michael, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I created C’est Prune out of personal necessity. I have been noted as a key wardrobe stylist in international editions of major fashion publications such as Vogue, Elle, GQ and more. Even though I was viewed by some to be a tastemaker, I felt more like a hierodule to fashion trends or the assumed ‘postmates of clothing’ for the big wig editors; to whom my opinion didn’t really matter. I needed something to channel my soul urge for artistic expression. I needed to create my own style with sovereignty. At that moment C’est Prune was born.
The literal French to English translation of C’est Prune means “it is Plum”… cute, but that is meaningless. I came up with the name because in the early 2000s Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen used to SAY Prune in front of the camera, it produced pursed lips on the twins to achieve what they thought to be “the perfect picture” (c’est and say) are homophones. In the spirit of the perfect picture C’est Prune brands our cover stories.
Has it been a smooth road?
There will always be bumps on the road, allow yourself to learn from your struggles and get up and dust yourself off. Move on.

C’est Prune is a millennial centric, Instagram verified, digital fashion zine that was established in the year 2016. In that short amount of time, we have featured in demand talent and influencers such as Madelaine Petsch (Riverdale), Manny MUA, Chris Lilley (Summer Heights High), Nolan Gould (Modern Family), Jay Versace, Fifth Harmony, Tyson Ritter (All American Rejects), DJ 3LAU (EDM/top 40), Taryn Manning (Orange Is The New Black), COIN (Columbia Records/ Top 40) and LAUV (Billboard Top 40) just to name a few.
I am Founder/Editor In Chief. I wear many hats for C’est Prune but I am so thankful to have an amazing team behind me. I am grateful for my business partner Andrea Allison and my journalist Dylan Rubinstein. Without our team Prune wouldn’t be where it is today. What sets us apart from the rest? I enjoy shooting celebrities out of context. I like to shock their fans and make them feel passion. I enjoy pushing the boundaries.

I love Hollywood because there is magic in the air. I dislike the lack of Parking.
