Meet Mclean Mcgown of Mother The Mother

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mclean Mcgown

Hi McLean, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have always been interested in health and the more alternative routes of being healthy. As we know, health is true wealth. And when you don’t have it, I believe that we cannot do the things that we are meant to do here. I have always been fascinated by the human body and its inner workings (I majored in Dance and Science). I “randomly” took a midwifery class in college and was intrigued by natural options for birth. After the birth of my first daughter, I realized that there was a huge gap in Postpartum Care. As in, zero. This was 13 years go and luckily much has changed since then. But not enough. I naturally took my skills of being a Certified Nutritionist, Yoga and Pilates Teacher, Ayurvedic cook, and now new mother, to help those who were making the momentous transition from Maiden to Mother. I have worked and trained in many ways over the past decade to bring Birth and Postpartum Education Women in LA and throughout the world. I worked as a Postpartum Doula and now fill most of my time as a Motherhood Coach, serving women, couples, families all over the world. I am also a Hypnosis and Reiki Practitioner and focus on Nervous System regulation no matter what stage of life you are in. So for my motherhood and postpartum clients, we focus on health and healing from the inside out. Reprogramming the subconscious mind so that we can move freely in our lives and be the best versions of ourselves. I also offer VIP Healing days for in person helping new Mamas heal in mind, body, spirit, no matter how long ago they had their children. I also have a Podcast called “Mother The Mother” and have started a new business called “Coming of Age, Together” which is a platform to support Mothers and their Tween and Teenaged Daughters.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Hahahhahaa. No. Motherhood is nothing if not a wild and illuminating ride. I am a very hands on mother and chose that over outside success for many years. I cobbled childcare together so that I could do my Postpartum work (which I loved) but it did take its toll on my own health after my second daughter was born. There were many moments of having to have tough talks with myself. Was I practicing what I was preaching? Was I tending to my own Nourishment and health like I was teaching my clients? I did not have children for other people to raise them. I also, have big dreams and goals. Look, the days of having young children are marathons. Adding work and entrepreneurship on top of that was a lot. But I have my work cut out for me. I know I am here to help women empower themselves to heal and thrive. I know that this work is critical for the generations moving forward. I know that the care that women receive during their Postpartum healing time quite literally sets up their foundation of Motherhood. Which affects every aspect of the entire family unit. It affects the marriage or partnership. It affects every part of the baby and then growing child. This work matters. If you look at the statistics of Postpartum Depression and Anxiety in this country you can easily see, that what we are doing as a culture, is not working. We are failing mothers. I am here to Serve the Mothers.

As you know, we’re big fans of Mother The Mother. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Mother The Mother is a space in Service to the health of mothers and families, in mind, body and spirit. It is an Educational and Healing platform for honest talk, effective Nervous System regulation tools, Couple’s support, the freedom to have choices in birth and motherhood, and supportive tools such as hypnosis, frequency and reiki to help women feel their best and love their lives. To make motherhood not only enjoyable but also vibrant and magnetic. I think that I am known for my humor and very honest talk when it comes to the realness of life, which also includes death. I think that my clients know that I will always be straight with them, I do not sugarcoat things, but I also do not try to control anyone else ever. I believe that we all are sovereign beings and we are here to empower ourselves, not relinquish our innate power to others. Yes, I give guidance. Yes, I teach and share Education. But mostly I am focused on supporting you the mother, to get to know yourself and then mother how you see fit. I have no agenda other than helping mothers live their best lives.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
