Today we’d like to introduce you to Malcolm Alexander and Geoff Wahlman.
Malcolm Alexander’s inspiration comes from his father, James Bond, and Lapo Elkann based on their fearlessness, elegance, and of course, their taste in suits. After launching Malcolm Alexander, he teamed up with his best friend and college mate Geoff Wahlman to help operate the business. The two sought to ‘create a unique experience’ that merged “Tradition and Innovation”. Their line of menswear was launched as a response to the expansive acceptance of casual outfits in the lieu of business formal attire. The suits designed by Alexander are considered as distinctive in style and structure. In the beginning, Alexander and Wahlman started their business going door to door as a mobile service. Two years later, Malcolm Alexander opened its first showroom in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles. The business exists as an appointment only model to ensure that each meeting is focused on the client.
“Our clients are the heartbeat of the company without them we cannot operate.” – Malcolm Alexander
Timeless style and Modern Elegance is what the label attempts to capture in every piece. Malcolm Alexander designs suits for the everyday man that truly captures their personality and style. “Our goal is to create a lifestyle – the suit is just the forefront.”
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been smooth, starting a company from the ground up was difficult. At first we had to prove our product, perfect our measurement process and build brand awareness. Client acquisition was challenging in the beginning stages of our business. Retention has been key in sustaining our brand.
