Meet Lynisha Henderson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lynisha Henderson.

Hi Lynisha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well, I use to draw sketches as a child never taking the actual idea of sketching/Drawing seriously. My grandmother seen my sketches and told me she had a friend who runs fashion shows locally in Buffalo, NY and she offered to make some of my pieces. I was thrilled but as a child, I was reluctant of showing or giving someone my creative work because I was not confident in my own work at that time. Some years have passed and I noticed that I still had the love for fashion so I wanted to open my own store I jumped out on faith and tried back in 2017 I was so excited but I had no knowledge on what I needed to do. Jumping into opening a business with no knowledge led me to many many setbacks and doors closing so sadly I had to close my store. Closing my store had brought me sadness and made me feel like a failure, so I took that feeling of sadness and failure to rebrand and try again.

In 2021, I reopened Queen Savage Boutique and it was the best decision of my life because I was able to have mentors to show me the ropes I had time off from my job because of the pandemic so I felt this was my moment! My moment to make people see and know all about Queen Savage Boutique, my moment to do everything right. I am a Wife and mother of almost five children. I stand on being the Queen I am but also a Savage to make sure things get done in a lady way of course lol. I am where I am today because of God 1st and the many people I had in my corner that were able to help me along the way giving me knowledge on being a businesswoman and owner. My brand is for woman who wants to feel confident & comfortable in what they choose to wear. Queen Savage Boutique focus is on everyday wear you can dress down or dress up to which ever occasion you need. Here at Queen Savege Boutique, we want to help build up our Queens in confidence make them feel beautiful in every way we can.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Smooth? If anyone says opening and operating a business was a smooth road for them, they are selling you a dream. This road has bumps, twists and turns and major potholes. Being a full-time mother and working full-time wasn’t an easy task in itself, opening up a business made it more complicated and added more sleepless nights. There is a lot of time and research that is put into running a business; it’s times where I didn’t sleep at all, it has been times where I didn’t meet my goal at the end of the week or month, it’s times where I wanted to give up but my drive and will power I couldn’t do so.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have been working in the health care field for many years now. I am currently working at the #1 Trauma hospital Emergency room in Western New York ECMC. I am with the registration department I make sure the hospital is paid. Working in the ER setting is not for the weak! We tend to carry alot of burdens working in the ER, Even though I am not a doctor or a nurse I still experience everything with the patients and they often look for us for mural support in their time of sickness or if they have lost someone. I am most proud of the woman I have become to be, working in the hospital and having children I always have the sense to help others in any way possible it could be with advice or just an ear to listen and you have to be a person with a significant amount of patience to be selfless when needed. My compassion, selflessness to be a pillar for all woman helping them build their confidence is what sets me apart from everyone,  building Queen Savage Boutique is the platform and base of it all embracing woman with affirmations and inspirational quotes and videos with our social media. Simply being the Queen I am helping other Queens rise.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
My biggest risk as of to date was starting Queen Savage Boutique because I had a goal/dream with no funding, no loans and no grants to start all I had was my plan and 800.00 to purchase inventory. My faith gave me the push I needed to make sure my business became a reality. I wasn’t sure if people would purchase from me let alone even visit my website but look here we are 1yr and counting still standing. At the end of it all starting this was never about me it was about my children and their future. I work hard so they would not have to, I want them to not have to struggle. So risk-taking is the only way you would know what’s works and what doesn’t so take the chance on always becoming a better person, take the chance on building your future life is full of lessons to be learned.
