Meet Diane Magnette of Love Infinity For All

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diane Magnette.

Diane, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
The name “Love Infinity For All” came from my Mother-In-Law. She had suffered from depression her entire life but always managed it and along with her husband, raised two kind and generous men. She used to pack her sons’ lunch boxes with a note saying “I love you infinity”. When her husband passed away, she tumbled deeper and deeper in her depression which resulted in a more severe mental illness and she has never been the same. I saw a broken-hearted family hold on to each other and sacrifice everything they had to fight mental illness because no one else seemed to care. There was no real help from doctors, hospitals, and even friends. I spent hours wondering why no one seems to care about an older lady who had served her community as a special education teacher and as a wonderful human being who would have been there for others through the same struggle. I realized that it wasn’t that people did care but more that they felt helpless and that the mental health system had been neglected. That is when I decided to do something about it. Stigma surrounding mental illness seemed to be a big factor to our isolating situation and awareness seemed to be the first step to get rid of it. I began researching organizations whose purpose was to eliminate stigma, help mental illness sufferers and their families. I found NAMI and was impressed by their nationwide reach. The name of the company came shortly after. Now, I needed a product. Jewelry seemed a perfect way to spread awareness and help people start a conversation about the silent impact of mental illness. I went to a jewelry making class in Santa Monica and had my first pieces “the Jane” and “the Audrey” a week later. We have been in business for over 3 years and expanded our line from bracelets, to necklaces, chokers and now scarves. We donate 15% to NAMI and have organized fundraisers and participated in many mental health events in the past 3 years.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Creating meaningful partnerships. The fashion industry is ruthless. It is very challenging for small companies like ours to spread the word and let people know about what we do without being expected to give things for free. I was truly amazed by bloggers and other influencers writing to us asking for products without bringing up our mission. As difficult as it was, I decided to turn down people regardless of the amount of “followers” they had and only worked with people who understood our cause, cared about it and were willing to help us start a conversation about mental illness. Everyone has been affected by mental illness at some point in their life and if you think it would hurt your image to talk about it then you are going against what we stand for.

Love Infinity For All – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We handmake jewelry here in Los Angeles. We make bracelets and necklaces out of sterling silver, 14k gold, 14k rose gold as well as brass and leather. We are also launching our line of scarves this coming October. Every piece has the infinity symbol, it is what we are known for as well as our 15% donation. The infinity symbol represents our story but also our love for everyone who has and still is suffering from mental illness. Our story is what sets us apart as well as the fact that the cause came before the product. What I am most proud of is the daily emails I receive from strangers sharing their story and thanking me for what we do.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
My sense of purpose and how happy people are to work for and/or with us. Sure, I am happy that we are expanding and selling in more countries but I care more about the success of our mission than the revenue we are generating.
