Meet Lisa Caprelli

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Caprelli.

Lisa, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have spent 25 years in branding and marketing a variety of businesses.  Having a lifelong passion of studying human behavior and learning first hand by asking questions to decision makers and entrepreneurs from all walks of life, I made it my mission to discover and share what makes for a happy and meaningful life.  My books and talks reflect the amazing stories and messages from different perspectives.  I have worked with over 175 CEO’s. To date, I have 8 published books including Unicorn Jazz (a series and global brand) and Skip a Step: Imparting Wisdom for Young Entrepreneur Minds. I have found my purpose: to inspire young minds of all ages to do what seems impossible and to write and publish books.  Two years ago, I changed my life into becoming a full-time author.  I am blessed to help teens and adults write their story and get it published.  I have heard that “your mess is your message” and I am grateful that I drew from life experiences, skills and the many talented people I met along the way.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I have had many challenges along the way. I grew up very poor and did not have much growing up in El Paso, Texas. While we did not have many material possessions, we did have a lot of love. I am proud of my siblings closeness and my family.

I moved to California from Texas when I was 29 with very little resources, and I did not know anyone here. I rebuilt my life from the ground up; started a few businesses. Enter the recession in 2009, I left that business to begin a new journey; leave a marriage and start over, again.

I started a marketing and PR agency and became successful in taking on notable clients and brands.  Nothing is ever easy.  On the surface it may seem that way, but from all the people I have interviewed, no one got lucky to make it big.  There are always life lessons and challenges along the way.  The secret of life, I feel, is to figure out what’s best for you and taking massive action on those steps.

We’d love to hear more about what you do.
Because I grew up shy and introverted, I have spent my life studying human behavior.  I graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Social Psychology. I enjoy writing books that have a message or lesson to share for the reader.  I am creating a new book called The 5 Hats that make for a balanced happy life in five areas: 1) family 2) friendship 3) career 4) connection and 5) adventure.

I am also an artist. I have produced hundreds of paintings and have sold many to art collectors. I am known for taking an idea into a vision and road map to execute the idea and build incredible work. I believe it is hard to accomplish anything alone; I have talented people in my circle who I work with daily.

Having the vision and know-how to work alongside talent, I am most proud of my work in writing Unicorn Jazz (and its series) along with its 3D animation, merchandise and more we are building for the Unicorn Jazz world!

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Coincidence is God’s way of covering up his footsteps. I don’t believe in luck. I believe that you can have a vision and that it takes vision and execution steps to fulfill your vision. Suffering is a choice. Happiness is a choice. I choose to rely on the choices I make to have a positive impact in the world.
