Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Morris
Hi Lindsey, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Minneapolis, MN, as the middle child in a two-parent household. From a young age, I was taught the value of family, the power of unconditional love, and the importance of sticking together. I discovered my interest in fashion during my fifth grade year, heavily influenced by a close friend at the time. In high school, I carefully planned my outfits each night for the next day and never went to school without makeup. Looking back as an adult, that sounds exhausting, but it also showed me how much I cared. Fashion has always been a creative outlet for me and a way to express myself. “Simple, but effective” is my motto. My mom used to tell me in the midst of my indecisiveness, “make a decision and rock it.” It’s about having confidence.
High school was a pivotal time in my life, ultimately leading to my first big girl move. I dealt with a lot of drama throughout middle school and high school, leading to a lot of uneasiness and anxiety. I lived a lot of moments feeling alone. For my freshman year of college, I moved to Louisiana to attend Nicholls State University. With half of my family living there, it was the perfect blend of a new experience and familiarity. I spent another year attending FIU before graduating with my bachelors degree in Social Work from Minnesota State University, Mankato. In 2023, I made my most permanent move to Los Angeles where I’ve lived for the past two years.
Why did I move to LA? The simple answer: because it felt right. It had everything I loved—beaches, mountains, great weather, amazing food and so many things to do. On a deeper level, LA was something I needed. It was a place for me to grow, challenge myself, heal my inner child, reconnect with myself, and fully step into my potential and creativity.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Before moving to Los Angeles, I was signed with three modeling agencies in Minnesota. I figured if I could do it there, I could do it in LA too! It didn’t take me long to realize how incredibly hard and competitive it is to get accepted in LA. There’s so many beautiful people in LA and so many people going after the same thing. I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t a little discouraging not being seen in the way others have and knowing your worth..but LA is unique in that way; it’s a city full of creatives.
Another challenge I’ve faced, was trusting people too easily. I’ve always prided myself on having pure intentions, clear values, and being a woman of my word, but I had to learn that not everybody values things in the same way that you do.
I think generally, being in your 20’s can be a confusing time. Here I am with all these talents and interests, yet I feel so lost on which direction to go, where to start or what my “niche” is. I’ve struggled with having so many ideas that I end up getting nothing done. It’s about discipline and starting.
I’ve also discovered that because my comfort zone has been being alone a lot of my life, it’s hard for me to feel the need for people, but I’ve realized community is everything. I wouldn’t say that it’s been a struggle, but I needed to heal me, and better myself before I could truly unlock what my creative future looks like.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
The creative part of me enjoys content creation, taking photos, working out, fashion and skincare. I appreciate tasks that allow me to be hands on, creative and meticulous. I genuinely love to create and want to connect with people in authentic ways. I pride myself on remaining true to who I am at all times, and it’s a place of value for me to share my thoughts, revelations or areas of growth with others, as you never know who’s listening or being impacted.
From a career standpoint, I work as a mentor for kids and support them in discovering their own strengths, interests, healthy habits, heathy relationships, life skills and academics.
My overall mission is to empower, connect, and impact as many people as I can!
I’m most proud of my awareness, and the ways that I’ve been able to truly tap in and connect with myself. I genuinely enjoy unlocking new things about myself, healing old parts of myself, and taking moments to reflect about how far I’ve come. I think overall who I am as a person, sets me apart from others. I’m genuine. I’m kind. I’m considerate, I give people grace. I have a lot of care and compassion for people.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Just to slow down. Life is so fast, our health is everything. There’s more out here than we know. Have healthy habits. We can’t control everything. Be patient. Spend time with family. Enjoy the simple moments. Don’t be selfish. Protect yourself and protect others
