Meet LERRAD

Today we’d like to introduce you to LERRAD.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Lerrad. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Well, it all started back in high school. My boy Calvin who’s a close friend of mine, we use to freestyle during break and lunch. I never wanted to rap, I just freestyled because I thought it was fun. But Calvin on the other hand was already a rapper and would record songs at his house. He told me himself that if I took it serious I could do something with it. I was like yeah right and just brushed it off. Then one day Calvin invited me to his house to record a song. I was already reconsidering the rapping thing, so when he invited me I jumped on it immediately. But after that day of recording I didn’t record another song until college. After my first year of college is when I decided to no longer do this as a hobby, but make it a career.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I’ve seen a lot of success in music so far, but I’ve also took a lot of losses. You know it’s a struggle trying to get people outside of your friend circle to listen to your music. You could be the best rapper ever but who is going to hear you? You can’t continue to make music in your room and expect to wake up on top. I’m still going through that right now but I try to remain humble. And a lot of these marketing companies aren’t actually for the artist. They only look at you as a dollar sign. How they make profit off of you but not actually do anything. The whole point of investing into the company is to gain a larger Audience. I’ve seen more success from pushing the music myself instead of relying on somebody else.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
Well, I’m Hip Hop Artist. Every song I make, no matter the style I have to be real in every line I spit. I believe music is good for the soul and it’s timeless. I don’t care about being the biggest rapper, I just want to change lives and help people get through hard times. Let them know they’re not alone because I once was in their shoes.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Well, right now I’m working on my album. It’s 60% done right now. The name of the album is called “Somewhere”. It’s about my journey and how I may not know where I’ll end up, but I know I’m going somewhere. It’s going to be released on all streaming platforms. Release date will be announced soon.
