Meet Legend Chea of Leyenda

Today we’d like to introduce you to Legend Chea.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Dr. Legend Chea, and my journey began far from the boardrooms and brand partnerships I’m known for today. I was born into the system — literally. No parents, no safety net, and no blueprint. I grew up in Compton & Long Beach, California, mixed with Cambodian roots and a future everyone counted out. At nine years old, I was placed into the system and tossed between shelters and group homes. I lived on the streets. I ate from trash cans behind Little Caesars. I stood in food bank lines just to survive.

They said I wouldn’t make it. That I’d end up dead or in prison. I was the black sheep of my family — abandoned, ignored, and written off. But where others broke, I built. I built strength. I built vision. I built purpose.

Today, I’m a decorated U.S. Army veteran, entrepreneur, federal government professional, and doctor. I’m the founder of Leyenda, a powerhouse brand that spans luxury car rentals, exclusive fragrances, real estate, and private-label spirits. I’m also an equity partner and shareholder in Drink Glow, a global beverage company partnered with Kylie Jenner.

But beyond the empire, I’m a Philanthropist. I’ve raised over $100,000 for Shriners Hospital for Children, built clean water initiatives in Cambodia, and launched campaigns with Fostered Foundation to develop underserved youth through mentorship, arts, and education.

My story is living proof that no background is too broken to rewrite the future.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road wasn’t just rough, it was damn near impossible. From the age of nine, I had no consistent home. I didn’t grow up with stability or support. I battled poverty, trauma, and abandonment. There were days I questioned if I’d eat, and nights I questioned if I’d even see the next morning.

In my twenties, I opened a restaurant and nightclub in the largest open-air mall in America. It was a hit, but I was burning out. I knew I needed a business that didn’t drain me, one that gave me freedom. I transitioned into consulting, earned awards in finance, then pivoted to real estate & venture capitals. From there, the empire was born.

The biggest obstacle wasn’t the money, the resources, or the network, it was the mindset. I had to unlearn survival and learn strategy. I had to stop reacting and start leading. That shift changed everything.

And to this day, my parents will never take credit for who I’ve become. Nor will they ever tell the truth about what I survived.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Leyenda ?
Leyenda is more than a brand — it’s a movement, a mindset, and a mission. Born from the streets and built with purpose, Leyenda started as a premier exotic car rental service, offering clients access to luxury and power in motion. But it quickly grew into a multi-industry powerhouse, expanding into signature colognes, exclusive spirits, and bold lifestyle products that reflect ambition, ownership, and excellence.

What sets Leyenda apart isn’t just our products, it’s our story. We weren’t born with a silver spoon. We built our empire from scratch, while many were handed opportunities, we created our own lane. Our scent line, Leyenda by Legend, has captivated the senses of bold men and women across the country, while our alcohol line raises the bar on taste, presentation, and exclusivity. And now, as an equity partner and shareholder in Drink Glow — a brand also partnered with Kylie Jenner — Leyenda has stepped onto a global stage.

Every venture under Leyenda serves one goal: to inspire others to rewrite their narrative and rise. From cars to colognes, from spirits to strategy — we don’t just sell luxury. We embody legacy.

We’re proud to be a household name that symbolizes hustle, freedom, and generational wealth. Whether you’re driving our cars, wearing our fragrance, toasting with our bottle, or learning from our journey, you’re part of the Leyenda lifestyle. And that’s what we want readers to know: you don’t need privilege to become a legend. Just purpose.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe in luck. I believe in alignment, anointing, and action.

Yes, there were moments where things fell into place, but only because I kept moving. What people call “luck” is really preparation meeting grace. I was working behind the scenes when no one was watching. I wasn’t chasing likes, I was chasing legacy.

I’ve faced more bad breaks than most, but I’ve also turned every setback into strategy. Every door that closed was God redirecting me. Every betrayal built discernment. Every night I went hungry gave me the hunger I carry today.

If I’m lucky for anything, it’s that God chose to use me. That I’m still breathing. And that I never stopped believing. “So mote it be, Amen.”
