Today we’d like to introduce you to LaTeia Guillary.
Hi LaTeia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Yes, I’m a person who loves a great love story. Also while I was planning my own wedding I did not see a lot of spaces online or in real life that celebrated black love stories. So I decided to create an Instagram page that would highlight some of those stories, I didn’t see represented in many spaces. So I created a page and started to find images of black love all over the internet specifically on Instagram. Once I created the page in 2016 I didn’t really see many niche wedding pages dedicated to highlighting black love stories, weddings, anniversaries or engagements. So I decided to dedicate my time and energy to highlighting those stories and over time my page grew from a few likes to a few followers and now I have over 30 thousand followers. This allowed me to see that there were people who wanted to see this trope of content. Recently, I just launched an online store in which I sell merchandise that celebrates black love and my goals are to continue to share stories of love and healthy relationships through sharing real-life stories of people that look like me.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has definitely been met with some challenges but looking back, I wouldn’t change anything. I back in 2016 but did not see any growth or following until 2019 and now I’m so excited to see the progress of my hard work and commuted dedication to this passion project of mine.
