Meet Kim Paige of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Paige.

Hi Kim, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Born and raised in Los Angeles. I was inspired to do makeup by seeing my grandmother every morning. She would get up early and spend time on her beauty and i would always want to play around in her makeup. When I graduated Hamilton High school, I took some courses and got my credentials for makeup artistry! I’ve had them for about 12 years now but wasn’t doing much with my skills. After the pandemic in 2020, I attempted to really brand myself and take on clients and truly become an entrepreneur. I started advertising myself and my services on StyleSeat and Thumbtack. That’s where I would say my business started to grow and get my name out there. As i gained more clientele through those platforms, I slowly started posting my work on my Instagram story and my feed. Then I realized that I need my own booking system so I created my own website, got some professional headshots done, business cards, and etc. I’m always looking for ways to continue leveling up and investing in my growth. Also, at the time, I still wasnt satisfied with the small amount of clients I was getting and felt i could be busier. So I took a leap of faith and connected with the knot for bigger jobs and also receive some quality photos for my portfolio in the process. I’ve realized in my journey that it’s all about making connections and to always push yourself to the next level. Know your worth and don’t short change yourself.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My biggest obstacle is getting clients and maintaining them. Sometimes I have dry spells where I’m wondering why people aren’t booking. It can be really discouraging and even makes me question my skills in general. However, I have to remember to tell myself that there are seasons that are more fruitful than others. The holidays and springtime are usually busier seasons but you never know who may come your way! Unless someone has an event every week it’s challenging to have that continued flow of clients pouring in. I’m still hopeful that one day I’ll get that one celebrity client that wants me for every gig so that I’m truly booked and busy!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a professional makeup artist. I specialize in editorial, wedding glam, and red carpet glam. I’m known for giving glowy, natural skin. I’m most proud of recently being featured in the Essence digital magazine May 2025 issue speaking on the soft glam era. What sets me apart is that I know how to bring that glow from within through your makeup.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
People think I work with celebrities all the time since I’m born and raised in LA. False. I’ve only worked with about 3.
