Meet Kevin Anto of Suzuki Academy of Los Angeles in Studio City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Anto.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kevin. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My brother and I were born and raised in France. We both studied music at the most prestigious conservatory in France known as the Conservatory of Paris. Our family later on moved to America and we were introduced to the Suzuki Method, which is a beautiful way of learning how to play any instrument. We both fell in love with the method. My brother is 10 years older than me, and at the age of 23 was already promoted to director of a school of about 70 students in Houston, Texas. By attending countless Suzuki trainings and dedicating 60+ hours a week to his school, he was able to buy it and make it one of the biggest privately-owned music schools in North America, with over 500 students today. His school became known worldwide for turning 2-3-year-old undisciplined children into prestigious organized professional musicians by the age of 8…

My brother has always been a huge inspiration to me, and as I learned music through the Suzuki Method and studied all of the new methodologies my brother had implemented, I realized that child education, and teaching core values of how to be successful to children was my passion as well. My brother is now retired, but as my mentor, he is guiding me and helping me construct a new branch of the Suzuki Academy here in Studio City, where we focus on 4 things. Learning music just like we would learn any native language, creating a proper environment of music for children such as musically informed parents and friends, Graduations from one repertoire to the next, and changing children’s lives at every level by teaching them confidence, patience, discipline, and the true meaning of hard work.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There have been many obstacles, but my brother and I are very blessed to be surrounded by such positive people in our family and work environment. Everyone at our school sees the school as a team. Parent, Teachers, and students all work together in communities to provide the best education for our students. This is one of the many concepts in the Suzuki Method known as the Suzuki Triangle.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We specialize in teaching core values to children through music. As far as services, we provide music lessons. We teach practically all instruments, but in our new branch in studio city we are currently limited to piano and violin.

What we are most proud of and what has always set us apart is that our program promises a better future generation of kind, loving, positive and intelligent individuals.

What were you like growing up?
I was very shy and afraid of attention. I was reserved and played with myself mostly. A typical introvert. Through the years of performance and constantly being positively pushed by my environment to take action and be on the spot, I eventually developed into a very energetic and outgoing person who will stop at nothing to better humanity through music.
